Melvin H. Cade

“Riches lie within us, not in material possessions. Our real riches are the riches of the head and heart.”Melvin H. Cade, Jr., son of the late Colonel Melvin H. Cade, Sr. and Willie Douglas Cade, was born February 3, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on October 10, 2001.Melvin received his education at Frederick Douglass High School. Melvin loved music and followed an early career as the organist for Little Ricky and the Deltones in 70’s. He traveled extensively in and out of the State with the Group. Later, Melvin became a member of the group known as The Ten Carats Gold Band.Melvin worked for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, The Wackenhut Security Agency as well as the Truck Quality Brand Distributing Company as a driver. On January 8, 1992 Melvin joined the staff of The March Funeral Homes as an Assistant to the Funeral Directors. This is when Melvin realized his calling as gentleman’s gentleman and a people person.Melvin had a unique method of helping families find peace with themselves. Families constantly requested his service and Melvin always delivered more than expected-an unsurpassable service. Our Melvin was described by his friends and co-workers as classy, extremely mannerly, giving, friendly, etc. He had a way of hugging all the ladies at work that made them feel special.Melvin knew and loved the Lord. Early in his life, he joined Enon Baptist church, in March of 2001, Melvin joined Pleasant Rock Baptist Church under the guidance and direction of Reverend Timothy Lofton.Melvin leaves to mourn one son, Melvin H. Cade, III; one daughter, Keisha Cade; one granddaughter, Kymah Clark; one loving sister, Deborah Ann Cade-Yawn; one brother-in-law, Ralph E. Yawn; his long time companion, Bernice Sessoms and a host of other relatives and friends.Dear Dad,I wish I had known your time was so near,Now in my heart, I feel pain and fearYou wanted to leave, and only God knows why,I only wish I had the chance to say good-bye.My time with you was little, but I’ve loved you from the start,So forever and ever, you will remain in my heartYou’re my father, I’m your son, and this we know is trueI have but one regret, I wish I could have been there for you.
