Melody Matthews

Melody Ester Matthews, daughter of Carrie Ector Matthews and the late John Robert Matthews, was born on July 19, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called to God's kingdom on February 14, 2016 after a short illness. Melody continued her education in the State of Maryland. many knew her as "Mel" a.k.a. Chicken. If you knew Mel, she was an angel walking on earth. Melody had one of the most high-sprung personalities. She would not give up or let you defeat her. She was a strong fighter. Mel was a very passionate, loving, caring and most of all outspoken person. She had no filter and wasn't afraid to lead or take control of certain situations. She was a firm believer of "what you do in the dark, must come to light". Mel had a heart of gold, she would have given you her heart if she could. Her passion was taking care of people and being a guided source through Jesus Christ. She gave her life to God at an early age. Later she rededicated herself to God! Mel was a devoted member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. This is where she found the love to dance and was an active member on the women's ministries. she loved to give back to her community, family and friends. Each and every holiday, she made it her priority to serve the homeless and less fortunate. she would say "you have not, because you ask not". She was a force to reckoned with. Melody held various jobs. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Rosewood Center for over ten years and as a custodian for several years at The Marriott Waterfront. She was the life of the party. If she could help you, she would without any hesitation. She had one colorful style of dressing. She would always say "you should be bright and meaningfulto your soul because God made the colors of the rainbow". She loved to cook, read, and definitely watch her Soap Opera (The Stories). She enjoyed going to the park and taking long walks. She loved to celebrate the holidays baking and cooking her favorite dish, spaghetti pasta salad. Melody enjoyed listening to all types of music, especially, gospel. She always kept God first before whatever she had to do.
