Mazie Reene Meredith

Mazie Renee Meridith-Brown lovingly known as “Bunny”, was born March 14, 1968 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Bushwick. She was the youngest of eleven children. She was educated in the Kings County school system and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School. After graduating, she worked several jobs and was well known throughout her community. Bunny was predeceased by her mother Ida Mae Meredith, a sister: Patricia Meredith, and five brothers: Eugene Meredith, Larry Meredith, Alonzo Meredith, Keith Meredith, and Lester Meredith all of New York. Bunny relocated from Brooklyn, New York to Richmond, VA in 2010 to build a better life for herself and her children. She moved to the Ironwood Community where she lived for 15yrs. She was a vital part of her neighborhood. Bunny was always there to lend a hand or a kind word to her neighbors when needed. Her home was beautifully decorated every holiday with her famous balloons. Whatever the neighborhood needed she was it (sister, mother, counselor, lawyer) she always made herself available. Bunny joined the fellowship of the New Bridge Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia. Her love for God was demonstrated in the way she served. She was a faithful member of the Pastor’s Aid ministry, member of the Inspirational Choir, and consistent in her attendance to Bible Study where her devotion led her to purchase bibles for the church. She did things from her heart and was a quiet contributor to anything in dealing with the children of the church. She served as a community mouthpiece and didn’t mind inviting neighbors and friends to worship with her. The three things she loved most were God, her children and grandchildren. Every morning first thing, she got up, thanked God and prayed for her family and everyone she loved. Mom was her greatest title. Bunny loved her children and took pride in raising them to the wonderful adults they are today. Don’t say anything about her children or do wrong by them, because she would go to bat for them no matter what. Grandmother was a title she was very proud to have as well. She hosted their baby showers, spent quality time with and spoiled all of her grandchildren. They kept her motivated. Bunny never let any grass grow under her feet. She loved traveling to Las Vegas, going to casinos, shopping and cooking for her family. Everyone knew Bunny. She leaves to cherish her life, her husband of 34 years, Perry Lewis Brown; her three children, Dykim Brown, Shaquasia Brown, and Bershawn Brown; three grandchildren, Noland Scotland, Da’Kair Brown, and Serenity Brown; one brother, Thomas Meredith (Diana); three sisters, Sarah Johnson of New York, Stella Cheeks (Raymond) of Maryland, and Mattie Meredith of New York. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Though she will truly be missed by all who loved her, Bunny lived a good life and loved everyone unconditionally. “Mazie Renee Meredith-Brown lovingly known as “Bunny”, leaves a legacy of love. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and servant of the Almighty God whom she loved.
