Maurice Barksdale

Maurice Barksdale, Sr. son of the late Romaine Barksdale and William Floyd Duffy. Was born on May 20, 1956.in Baltimore, Maryland. Maurice departed this life on Saturday. October 11, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his mother-in-law Shirley Wise. Maurice was affectionately known as “Rebo” attended and graduated from Dunbar Senior High School. Rebo lived in various areas of Baltimore City from Vine Street, Stricker Street, Argyle Ave, to Bond Street, Lafayette Courts, Flag house Projects, and Perkins Homes. He cultivated lifelong relationships with everyone he encountered and continued to foster those relationships until the day he passed. Maurice was a loving, caring, and compassionate person, who came to realize his “passion”, was helping people. He would talk for hours to any and everybody. Maurice first job was for the McKim Center, as a youth counselor. He also worked for Housing Authority of Baltimore City Senior Living Program, which he enjoyed until retirement. After retirement, Mauriece decided to pursue working for the homeless community through Brown’s Shelter and People Encouraging People until his health prevailed. Maurice Joined First Apostolic Faith Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He became an amazing Steward of God’s Work. Maurice met and married the love of his life Randi. Frome that union they had two wonderful sons Maurice II, and Eric. He loved to watch them play basketball whether it was home or away games. In later years his grandsons “Moo-Moo” and “Mock” became the true apples of his eyes. Once he started talking about them it was hard to stop. Maurice loved his family. He often located family members. He knew existed but had not had the opportunity to meet yet . His legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. Maurice leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Randi: three sons Maurice II, Eric Sr., and Lascell Simmons; two grandsons Maurice III and Eric II; three sisters Linda and Paulette Barksdale and Audre Carter; two brothers Robert and Gerald Duffie; brother-in-law Allen Wise II and a host of other family and friends.
