Maurice Ballard

Maurice Ballard, was born on October 5th, 1960 to the late William Sullivan Sr. and Doris Lee Ballard at Baltimore City Hospital located in Baltimore, Maryland. Maurice transition to glory was January 7th, 2021. Maurice, affectionately known as “Junnie” to many was baptized at an early age by the Late Rev. Clarence E. Poole of Ebenezer Baptist Church; where his foundation of faith began and would reign throughout his life. Though Junnie wasn’t a frequent “church goer,” his love for Christ was definitely noticed through his own style of singing; while at home, of his own rendition of his two favorite gospel songs, “I’m a Soldier in The Army of The Lord” and “We’re marching to Zion.” Also, Junnie would sit with his eldest sister and talk about memories and how “his God” brought him through. In 1978, Junnie graduated High School Diploma and teaching from the Baltimore Public School System. Throughout the tenure of Junnie’s childhood his love for building and fixing was foreseeable and it made an impression on his life as shown throughout his adulthood. Not only was he the best at fixing all types of bicycles, his talent really flourished when he began his career at Heavenly Blessings Appliance Store located in East Baltimore as an Industrial Mechanist. Junnie would travel all over the city doing what he loved, fixing various appliances but most importantly giving others love as shown through every finished product. Junnie was known for his strength, perseverance, and his ability to take no trouble from no one. Junnie had a quite spirit but a spirit that would correct you without even knowing. Junnie was designed with so much love, especially for his family, friends, and those he just may have met for the first time. Junnie didn’t like trouble and stayed as far away as possible. He enjoyed his legendary bike rides all over the city but it was those times he would take a ride to Druid Park to just sit and think about life’s situations and blessings. Junnie leaves the cherish great memories and love to his three daughters; Kandais Ballard, Kendra Ballard, Ruby Marshall; one son, Kenneth Maurice Ballard; five sisters, Doris Sullivan(Muffy), Darlene Purnell(Pooh), Lilet Ballard(Missy), Denise Ballard, Ertha Sterling; two brother in laws William Sullivan Jr. and Richard Purnell; two grandsons, Pernell Carter, Kenneth Ballard Jr.; one granddaughter, Melanie Julia Burris; one long-time friend Dena Queen, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and relatives.
