Mary Ann Patricia McCoy

MARY ANN PATRICIA MCCOY was born on January 31, 1952 in Harlem, NewYork to the late Ethel Solomon and Plummer Earl Debnam. Affectionately known as “Patsy” or “Mama P”, she departed this life on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Her earthly journey was interrupted when God took a stroll through his personal garden and noticed that he was missing a very special flower; that special flower was Patsy who he picked to adorn the garden around his thrown.Patsy moved to Baltimore as a small child, where she made her home and raised her family. Educated in the Baltimore City Public School system, Patsy held various jobs before establishing a career in Nursing. On May 2, 1966, Patsy married Lester McCoy, and they renewed their vows in 1990.Throughout her life, Patsy was a diligent and conscientious worker, as well as an invaluable servant of God. After accepting Christ at an early age, she exemplified the true essence of Christian service and made it a point to introduce her children to the Lord. As a longtime member of Winston Avenue Baptist Church, she served on many ministries, but was well known for her dedication to the Nurses Unit, Usher Boards and Choir. Patsy started each day by reading her favorite scripture, the 23rd Psalm.Patsy had a passion for motorcycles, and started her own social club called, The Unique Ladies. She always had time to listen to and advise her family and friends. Patsy will be remembered for her distinctive quote; “Everything ain’t black and white. “Anyone who knew her understood that her favorite past time was sucking her thumb and listening to Smokey Robinson songs. Patsy had a big heart and opened her home to many who needed a place to stay and a hot meal. She was very devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lester McCoy; three loving children, Gilda Debnam, Reginald McCoy and Melissa McCoy; step-children, Kevin McCoy, Lester McCoy III, Lacey McCoy, Christopher McCoy, Donna Hall, Johnny Hall and Brian Hall; adopted children, Edrick McCoy and Eric McCoy; grandchildren, Aisha Melvin, Tracy Jones II, Craig McCoy, Stacy Jones, Casey Jones and Sharice Lomax; great-grandchildren, Tazvy Ward, Tracy Jones III, Traqunn Jones and M’layah Bell; siblings, Mert Harris, Larry Dunson (Inell), Donald Debnam (Joyce), Vanessa Debnam and Bishop Dwayne Debnam (Carla); brothers-in-law, the late Lawrence McCoy (Elaine), Melvin McCoy (Carolyn) and Michael McCoy (Diane); aunts, Tutsie Cook and Ruth Spence; uncle, Wilbur Clanton; son-in-laws, Tracy Jones Sr and Walter Dennis; special cousin, Big Netta; god-children, Bobby Martin and Nessie Rogers; very special friends, Angie, Avis, Carolyn, Dwight, Elsie, Mack, Margie and Valinda; as well as a host of loving family and friends. Her precious great-grandbaby, Nystajah Bell went home with Patsy to be with the Lord.
