Mary Snowden

MARY ELIZABETH SNOWDEN, affectionately known as “Snowball” and “Mar” was born on March 26, 1952 She was one of seven children born to Glascoe and Alma Pope in Franklin, Virginia. Her parents preceded her in death. Mary was suddenly taken from us on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Mercy MedicalCenter in Baltimore, Maryland following a short illness. Mary and her family moved to Baltimore , Maryland in1963 and she received her education from the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Forest Park Sr. High School in June of 1970. She furthered her education her studies in Business Administration at the Community Collegeof Baltimore, now known as Baltimore City Community College. Mary was employed at various companies, but most of her career was spent working at Pace Stores until they were bought out by Sam's Club. Mary was the manager of the Bakery Department at Sam's Club locations for many years and then in 2003, she transferred to a position in the Receiving Department at Sam's Club Severn Store . During her twenty -two year career at Sam's Club,Mary was well loved by all and received numerous certificates of recognition. In 1979, Mary was united in marriage to Elmer Maurice Snowden, who preceded her in death . From their union, they were blessed with one daughter, Kimberly Dion Snowden Mary later spent happy years with her special life partner, Bruce Patterson, who loved her daughter as his own Mary was above all a wonderful mother and homemaker with unconditional love for daughter, Kimberly. Mary was spiritual and loved the Lord . Mary never complained about anything and when asked if she was okay, her response was always, “I'm fine.” She touched many lives with ready smile,quick wit, joyful laughter and generosity. Mary was known for her open hospitality towards strangers laughter and generosity. Mary was very much loved and demonstrated her love for her as well as friends with her caring, kind spirit and last, but not least, her delicious home cooking. In her leisure Mary enjoyed playing cards, watching football and basketball and entertaining. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Kimberly Dion Snowden; her special life partner Bruce Patterson; her sisters, Linda Hope and Brenda Fisher; her brothers, Glascoe Pope, Jr., AllenPope and (Hubert Pope who preceded her in death); two sisters-in-law, Laverne Pope and Cheryl Pope;two brothers-in-law, James Hope and Leroy Fisher; six nieces, Tonya Morris, Regina Hope, ChristinaSaunders, Raquel Fisher, Alma Fisher and Melody Pope; four nephews, Shawn Pope, Derrick Pope, Dwayne Fisher, Aaron Pope and (Damon Fisher who preceded her in death); three aunts, Virginia Hargrove, Marion Macklin and Frances Rawlings; her other mother, Minnie Patterson “Mom;”three stepdaughters, Brandi Roberts, Monica Patterson and Tousha Patterson; two step-grandchildren, Moses Roberts and Malachi Roberts; two very special friends, Deborah Spencer and Corrine MaLarin Roberts; two godchildren, Brandi Scurry and Joshua Scurry; one beloved friend, Vanessa Janice Scurry who loved as a sister; as well a host of other family and friends.
