Mary Lois Brown

Mary Lois Brown, daughter of the late Odessa and Belton McKoy, Sr. was born on Monday, April 9, 1934 in Maxton , North Carolina. On Thursday, July 17, 2008 the Lord called Mary home to rest.She received her education in the Maxton, North Carolina Public School System. After her completion of school. Mary relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.While in Maryland, Mary worked various jobs. It was during this time that Mary met and married her husband, Corporal Claude R. Brown. On April 9, 1955 the two were married. From this union five children were born. Loretta D. Barco, Aredlla Miles, Yvonne Brown, Veanetta Brown and the late Claudette Brown.In 1978, Mary joined Ark Church of Baltimore, Maryland. It was at Ark Church, that she pledged her time and energy. Sister Brown served diligently as a member of the Culinary Ministry as well as the United Voices of Ark. Her devotion to God, and her willingness to serve others, mandated that she serve regardless of her physical condition. It was through her service that she gained strength and a greater faith in knowing that God will do exceedingly and abundantly, more than we could ever ask or think. She loved her Pastor, Dr. J.L. Carter and her First Lady. She loved serving at Ark Church.She made numerous friends wherever she went. She enjoyed going shopping with her best friend, Mrs. Mabel Jackson. She was a true and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Four brothers, Charlie McKoy, Willie McKoy, Belton McKoy, Jr. and Henry McKoy, one daughter, Claudette Brown and one son, Sidney Woods, preceded Mary in death.She leaves to cherish her memories; a husband, Claude R. Brown, two sisters, Elouise McNeil and Elizabeth Anderson of New Jersey, five daughters, Brenda Ramsey, Loretta D. Barco (Plainfield, New Jersey), Ardella Miles, Yvonne Brown and Veanetta Brown, one son, Jimmy W. McKoy (Fayetteville, North Carolina), three sons-in-laws, Henry Ramsey, Johnathan Barco and Gregory Miles, three sister-in-laws, Marva Brown, Lillie Mae McKoy and Gloria Gardner (Knoxville, TN.), four brother-in-laws, Steve Brown, Johnny Brown, Charlie Brown and Eugene Brown (Tennessee) four grandsons for whom she cared for, Donald Brown, Markytis Brown, Robert Bush Jr. and Maurice Jackson, one godson, Gregory Foster, two special cousins, Alease Howell and Annette Thompson, twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
