Mary Ellen Jones

Mary Ellen Jones, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Maggie Brooks, was born on September 19, 1922 in Baltimore County. She grew up in Halethorpe, Maryland and was next to the youngest of seven children from the union between Thomas and Maggie. Mary departed this on February 26, 2017 after a sudden illness. She was best known to most "Ellen" or "Dana". Ellen was a devoted ,other of two children, the late Karen and John, Jr. She met and married her best friend, the late David Jones when she was in her 50's, Ellen was a devoted wife to him for over thirty-five years. She received her education from Douglass High School, and attended nursing school. Ellen always had a passion for the medical field and chemistry. Although Ellen did not finish pursuing her education in nursing, she continued to be very aware of medical protocols and knew how to manage her health well. She worked as Maryland Glass in the quality control unit as a laboratory technician until her retirement. Ellen was a hard worker. Although she retired, she found work in other ways and works through her 80's. She was a faithful and devoted member of Christ Church and was known as " The Mother of the Church". Ellen considered her church member her family and loved them dearly. When Christ Church moved she became a member of Victorious Ministries International while she was still able. Ellen was a very spiritual woman and took pride in her faith. She was a thinker , was very observant, and continuing to have all of her mind until the end. You could count on Ellen also speaking her mind. Ellen loved to talk to her friends on her cell phone. She had great conversations with friends and relatives of all ages. Ellen was a loyal Ravens fan. After she watched her streamed church service on-line, she looked forward to seeing her Ravens play on Sundays. Ellen is known for her generosity and for being "mother" to many. Sheleaves to mourn: five grandchildren, Nora Powel, Shearn Robinson Mitchell, Shirl Adams Green, John Robinson, III and Patricia Robinson; thirteen great-grandchildren, Clifton, Quintina, Norman, Curtis, Charles, Nora, Crystal, Christian, Diamond, David, Noresha, Sean, and Chauna; eighteen great-grandchildren; life long friends, Juanita, Mary and Alice; her devoted niece, Robin; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
