Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 90, of Chesterfield departed this life, Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born on October 22, 1928 to the late Mary Johnson in Brooklyn, New York. She is preceded in death by her grandsons, Derek A. Berkley, Darren A. Berkley and Lester L. Berkley III; brother, William Lee Johnson; and a best friend, Zulene Seabron. She was educated Brooklyn and Ashland Public School System. She was a member of Fourth Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Mary formally worked at the Palace Nursing Home for many years and retired from the facility. She was a hard, dedicated worked that loved to help others. Mary was a provider to her family and would often prepare meals for family. The joy of Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners were welcomed at her home with her family members. She will be remembered for reading her bible, always praying with her glorious smile, love of family and a strong faith in God. She had a feisty spirit, enjoyed sitting on the front porch and most all watching her religious television shows. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, three daughters, Rebecca Anderson (Larry), Kathleen Butler, Victoria Berkley; four sons, Lester Berkley Jr. (Alfreda), Vernon Berkley (Agatha), Reginald Berkley and Thurman Berkley (Andrea); grandchildren, Veronica Berkley, Nakesha Berkley, Tamaria Harrison, Margo Williams, LaKesha Butler, Thurman Berkley Jr., Lashiek Johnson, Malcolm Berkley, Charina Berkley-McMullen, Davon Berkley, Angela Graves, along with other host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; nieces, Elizabeth Holden, Loretta Lewis and Ann Lee Wolfolk, other great and great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends, especially her caring friend, Anita Miller.. You left us with memories, and we love you dearly still not matter how much time goes by we always will. You were a very special person with kindness in your heart, and the love we had together, grows stronger now we’re apart.
