Mrs. Mary Frances Goodman

MARY FRANCES GOODMAN, beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the age of 97. Mary Goodman, daughter of the late Edgar and Naomi Satterfield, was born on August 6, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Goodman, who passed away in February 1993. Mary is survived by her loving children: daughters Romelle and Alisha (Lisa), and her son Charles. She was preceded in death by her daughter Shirley and three sons: James, John Sr., and Edgar Sr. She is also survived by her daughter-in- law, Valerie. Mary had thirteen grandchildren. She is survived by the late James Jr., the late Yolanda, and the late Naomi. Jonathan, Keith, Edgar Jr., Andrew, Lisa, April, Nichole, Nikko, Aaliyah, Malik, and Amado Jr.; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Shanae, Anthony Jr., Kanisha, Keith Jr., Miles, Carrisa, Ava, London, and Demi. In addition, she is survived by seven great-great- grandchildren and a host of cousins, all of whom were blessed by her love, strength, and legacy. She received her education at Douglass High School and later pursued night classes at St. Dominic Church, where she earned a certificate of achievement in food services. Her early work as a domestic worker laid the foundation for a long and dedicated career at Doxsee/Borden’s Foods, from which she retired as a packer after 19 years of loyal service. Throughout her life, she created countless cherished memories with family, friends, and her church community, always sharing her love, wisdom, and joy. She especially treasured Sunday dinners, family cookouts, and relaxing days at the beach. A lifelong and devoted member of New Shiloh Baptist Church, she faithfully served her church for an extraordinary 90 years. She loved gardening—so much so that her dear friend Ann Miles would often say, “Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?” She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, and sharing meals with loved ones, particularly her favorite Kentucky Fried Chicken and the cherished fried chicken prepared by her daughter-in-law, Valerie. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she is no longer with us in body, we rejoice in knowing that she is resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord. Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will continue to guide us. She was the heart of our family, our foundation, our storyteller, and our source of wisdom. We will miss her dearly, but her love will remain with us forever
