Mary Rachel Dunnock

Mary Rachel Cornish Dunnock was born July 19, 1934 to the late Lily B. Palmer Cornish of Taylors Island, Maryland. Quietly on Friday, December 16, 2022, God summoned her home to be with him on high. Mary married the late Percy Monroe Dunnock Sr. on AUgust 7, 1958. From this union three children were born, Ida MIchelle Cornish, Victoria Alfreda Dunnock, and Percy Monroe Dunnock,Jr. Preceding her in death are oldest brother, Samuel Cornish, twin sister, Martha Lily Cornish Sampson, Uncle Namon Palmer and a sister- in -law, Doris Cornish. Mary attended Baltimore City Public Schools. At age 65, Mary went back to school to obtain her GED. She was a prime example of "it's not to late to continue your education."Mary valued education and encourage her children and grandchildren to never give up their dreams and goals. Mary accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very young age. She was a faithful member Of St.Paul Praise and Worship Center for over 45 years until her passing. Mary could be found sitting beside her daughter, Mae ith a smile that was heartwarming and contagious. She served the Stewards Board and enjoyed singing with the choir from her pew. Mary enjoyed serving her community. Over 30 years she served as a judge for the board of elections. Mary raised her family in the Lexington Terrace Community and was known to a second mother to many. She was also known for helping others in the neighborhood. Mary watched the children of many neighbors both young and old. Mary enjoyed walking to Lexington Market daily. Not only did she go to the supermarket for others in the neighborhood, sometimes Mary invited her family and friends to tag along. It was doing these times she would give the best advice, or simply listen to others share the deepest secrets and thoughts. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She leaves to cherish fond memories; Children, Ida "Mae" Cornish, Victoria Newton Percy Dunnock,Jr. (Mary); Grandchildren, Danyelle Jordan (Sean) Renae Newton, Ashley Newton, Shawan Dunnock, Rahsaan Torian Brave; Great-grandchildren; Shemar Ali, Sanayah Newton, Lavar Bakari and Stori Lawson; a great-grandchild, Ryan Ali, a Godson,Timothy Dunnock; Brothers, Luther H. Cornish and Gary Camper; Sister, Delphine Camper Jackson (Robert); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
