Mary Anne Burley

MARYANN ANNE BURLEY departed this life on January 6, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, at age sixty-nine surrounded by her children, grandchildren and loving family and friends. She was born on April 24, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Jones and James William Keene. Mary was the youngest of six siblings. On May 29, 1960 she married Ronald Edward Burley Sr., who preceded her in death. Mary was a third generation member of Historic St. Francis Xavier Church, the Oldest African American Catholic Church in the Nation, where she received her sacraments and education. She attended high school at St. Francis Academy in Baltimore. Mary, was known as; Auntie, Auntie Mame, Maryann, Mary B., Momma, Granny or Ms. Mary by many. Mary had a big heart, a great smile, and a warm and loving spirit. Mary opened her home to anyone who came to her needing a place to sleep or stay for a while and she gave what she could to those in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and came in contact with her. Mary leaves to mourn: her children, Ms. Patricia A. Burley, Ms. Jacqueline M. Burley, Mr. Ronald Edward Burley Sr., Mr. Gregory J. Burley, Mr. Robert A. Burley (Virginia), Ms. Rhonda L. Burley, Ms. Carisa M. Burley, Mr. Joseph L. Burley (Hawaii) and Mr. Christopher D. Burley; three daughters-in-law, Melinda Burley, Farrah Hunkin-Burley (Hawaii) and Michelle Burley; six sisters-in-law, Mrs. Loretta Green, Ms. Carolyn Harris, Ms. Janet Berry, Ms. Gwendolyn Berry, Mrs. Terry Kendall-Johnson and Mrs. Bea Harris; three brothers-in-law, Mr. Claude Green Sr., Mr. Kenneth Harris and Mr. Weldon Johnson; her grandchildren, Shamicka, Raymond, Lakeatia, Tavon, the late Joshua, Shauntia, Donnelle, Donte, Mrs. Maria Coleman, Mr. Lance Coleman, Mrs. Courtney Burley (California), Mr. James Burley (California), Mrs. Jocelyn Burley-Kern (California), Mr. Paul Kern (California), Lil Greg, Keisha, Keef, Tia, Donesha, Malachi, Myonna, Terrell, the late Jebree, Trisha, Robert, Raven, Ave, Ryan, Candre’, Jovan, Franco, Imoni, Christopher Jr. and Nijae; her great-grandchildren, My’yah, Keon, Dee-Dee, Shai, VJ, Pooda, Donovan, Meechie, Jordan, Shalaya, Savannah, Skye, Jaylean, Derrick, Daron, Jaziah, Saniyah, Montel, Jabree Jr. and Anahla; her extended family members, Deneen Morgan-Burley, Akeisha Pryor-Burley, Kimberly Jones-Burley, Anthonio Henry Sr., Anthonio Henry Jr., Antwuan Henry, Amber Henry, Zy’ain Henry, Lay and Craig; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, -nephews and friends.
