Martin K. Appiah-Kubi

Mr. Martin Appiah-Kubi was born on December 31, 1952 in Kumasi to the late Philip K.Appiah of Ejisu and the late Martha Appiah of Hwireso, of blessed memory who just crossed over, seven months ago in Ghana. He started elementary school in 1958 at St. Peters in Kumasi after which he went to complete his high school at Amisano Junior Seminary and Advance Level pre-college studies at Accra AcademyHe worked for the Bureau of Statisticsin Ghana from 1972-1975 until his departure to the US in the summer of 1975 to continue his priesthood education with the Trinitarian Fathers in Owing Mills, Md. He attended Towson State University at the same time to earn his college degree and graduated “cum laude” in 1981 in Community Health Administration with the unforeseen, he left Owings Mills to attain his Masters Degree in Public Administration(Health Care Administration) in 1984.He continued to work in Salisbury, Md. With Wicomico County Di. Of Mental Health as Director. He became married to Val. Appiah-Kubi and both were blessed in 1986 with a son Phillip Appiah-Kubi. He was a devoted father and a great familyman. He always was a jewel of love and care for his fellow human beings. He had a rich and colorful life, always bringing home free tickets for baseball games.In 1989 he became the new Chief of Operations & Administration for Montgomety County in Maryland until 1993 when he took up new assignment with the DC Govt as Director of Procurement. He took his job seriously with excellence and was tapped by the feds to join the Commission on Mental Health Services to re-organize St. Elizabeth Mental Hospital in Washington, DC as Project Manager to restore its accreditation, with successful comp;etion in 2000. He finally left in that year with great honors and flying colors to become the new Chief Financial Officer at the Center ForLife Enrichment from that period until this eventful date.Throughout his sojourn, he never waivered on his Ctholic faith. He was a member and a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to always say his Rosaty and never parted with it.He leaves behind his son, Phillip Appiah-Kubi,grandson, Phillip Martin Appiah-Kubi,older brother ,Andrew Ohemeng Appiah and younger brother Ralph Appiah;sisters Theresa Amonoo-Neitzer,Catherine Appiah, Margaret Apea and Georgina Kyere and a host of nephews,nieces,grand nephews & nices,cousins and other relatives and friends.
