Martha Lee Richardson

Martha Lee Richardson, the daughter of the late Cassie Lee and Ollie Bell (Evans) Daughtry, was born on December 19, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on March 1, 2010. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Martha was a homemaker and later became a licensed daycare provider. “Mama” or “Aunt Martha” (as she was fondly called) cared from many children including her grand and great grandchildren. , Martha loved the Lord and attended several churches in the Baltimore area. She hosted many Bible Study nights in her home until Victorious Life Ministries was created in 1999 where her nephew, Dr. Matthew Evans, was the Pastor. Several years ago she began fellowship and later joined Church of the Redeemed of the Lord attending church faithfully until recent weeks when her health declined. 'Mama” was an excellent leader and teacher, she not only talked the talk, she walked the talk. One of her favorite saying was “People can't follow a stopped bus so keep moving forward.” Until three days before God called her to be with him, she was a bold and faithful prayer warrior, waking her adult children at 5:00 AM for morning devotion and prayer before the day's duties began. She will always be remembered for her many and often unsolicited acts of kindness. She provided lunch for the neighbors, her children's co-workers or anybody she thought needed cheering or a blessing with her homemade Chicken & Dumplings and Salmon Cakes. She fell in love and married James Richardson on October 11, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Martha and James had a well rounded family of nine children, Arlene, Toni, Olita, Wanda, Michael, Robin, Lisa, Charlotte and Jimmy. Finally forming the “Richardson Bunch”. “Mama” was truly a mother and friend to almost every child or person that crossed her path. She leaves to cherish her life, her loving and dutiful children, Arlene Cates (Willie); Antoinette Toni Taylor (Retuis); Olita Burrus (Allen); Wanda Braxton (Michael); Denise Richardson; Michael Crudup (Kimberly); Robin Bonner-Clark (Ricky); Lisa Randall Richardson; Charlotte Richardson and James (Jimmy) Richardson; brothers, John and Cornelius Daughtry; two sisters, Ella Mae Crudup and Darlene Rodgers (Richard); twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-two great-grand children and several god children. She will be sorely missed by her “Road Partners”; longtime friend, Jeannell Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
