Marjorie Johnson Claiborne

The Life of Marjorie “Boo Boo” Claiborne Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Psalm 116:15 On Friday, August 5, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital, Marjorie J. Claiborne transitioned from labor to reward at 2:30 in the afternoon. She answered God’s call to be reunited with her beloved husband, Holton G. Claiborne, Jr. Marjorie was born on March 19, 1936 in Amelia County, Virginia to the late Lawrence and Sarah A. Johnson. She was the only child from this union. She was educated in the Amelia County Public Schools where she graduated from Russell Grove High School. Upon graduation, she relocated to Richmond, Virginia and briefly was enrolled in Virginia Union University with a major in Theological Studies. Marjorie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Flower Hill Baptist Church in Amelia, Virginia. She recently rededicated her life to Christ uniting with Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was anxiously anticipating receiving the Right Hand of Fellowship and being a part of her new church family. On June 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Holton G. Claiborne, Jr. They were the proud parents of three daughters whom they adored. After the birth of their second daughter, Marjorie enrolled and graduated from MCV School of Nursing where she was licensed as a LPN. She worked on the correctional unit until she retired. Marjorie was a quiet and gentle spirit who loved her family and friends. She wouldn’t hesitate to give you her words of encouragement when asked for. Her oldest granddaughter, Lucresha, gave her name “Boo Boo” because they used to play Peek A Boo. Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory three devoted daughters: Audrey Robinson (Walter),Patricia Carter,and Robin Pruden (Seth);two granddaughters,Lucresha Cunningham and Leondra Sutton; a grandson,Brandon Pitt (Megan),four great grandsons: Camron,Derek,Kason and Braden Pitt; a great-granddaughter,Journey Skye` Coleman who was her little ray of sunshine; a sister-in-law,Tammy West;"special daughter",Crystal Moore (Carlston);and a host of other relatives and friends among them devoted friends,Inez Eason, Lucille Seabrook and Mr. and Mrs. William Page.
