Marion Smith Williams

Marion Williams was born August 18, 1937 to her late parents, William Corbin and Annie S. Williams. Marion departed life on January 1, 2023 at the age of 85. Marion attended Baltimore City Pubic Schools. In 1970 she met her husband Johnnie Jr. in 1950 and four years later they married. They were married for 47 years until his death in 2001. Out of that union they had six children - Perry Sr., Katrine, Patricia, Johnnie lll , Lisa and Joseph. She worked for a short period of time, but since she couldn't find adequate daycare, she and her husband decided that she become a "stay at home " mom. She was an exceptional homemaker since the birth of her first child. In 1970 she decided to become a foster mother opening up her heart and home to children in need. Marion fostered over 30+ kids in her career and adopted her last child in 1995. She also nutred her grandchildren. She spoke her mind and didn't care if she offended you, but it was all in the spirit of tough love. Marion was affectionately known as Mommy/Ma, Two/Aunt Two, Grandma,and Nana. "Two " also enjoyed spending time with her extended family by going to cabarets, going to the beach in the summer, and enjoying quality time at cookouts and family gatherings. She also enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and watching her favorite TV show ( The Young and The Restless and Law and Order). The one thing that brought a smile to her face was talking to her grandson Renard on a weekly basis. Those who knew her knew she was good - hearted person. Marion met a lot of friends in her lifetime and was loved by everyone. If you visited her home , she always showed you hospitality by offering something to eat, a place to stay or a good conversation. While Nana loved all her grandchildren equally, she felt a powerful bond with her great granddaughter Keaira and grandson Jauwan. When they were younger they spent every summer together- playing cards, eating popsicles, watching movies, and telling jokes. The bond continued even when Kieaira and Juwan got older and had their children and the love continued. Marion prayed for Keaira's daughter Skyler everyday because she reminded her so much of herself. She was a member of Isaiah Baptist Church in Monkton, Md. Later in life, She began studying Jehovah's word and was baptized 8/6/1995. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie, three children- Perry Sr., Katrine, and Johnnie lll (Butchie) grandson Joseph Swann, Jr. (JOey). She leaves to mourn her memories: her children- Patricia, Lisa, and Joseph; sister- Violetta Peters; sister-in-laws- Mamie Mitchell and Hope Lyles; brother-in-laws- Alton Williams and Richard Lyles, Sr.; son-in-law- Darryl Watkins; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 10 great-great- grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
