Marion E. Waters

Marion Estelle Waters, daughter of the late Ora and John Morris, was born on June 13, 1937. She married the late Vernon Waters, Sr. Out of this union, two children were born, Darlene (Dina) and Vernon (Skeet) Waters, who preceded her in death. Marion was educated the Baltimore City Public Schools. She attended and graduated from Dunbar High School. After graduation, Marion joined the Dunbar Alumni Chapter where she was an active member until her death. She also attended Baltimore Community College where she received an Associate of Arts Degree in Business. Marion was employed by the Social Security Administration beginning January 3, 1967, and retired October 1, 2004, with 37 years of service. Due to the influence of her sister Doris Griffin, who preceded her in death, she was baptized at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Marion became actively involved in doing God's work. She served on various committees such as, the Finance, Pantry and the Council of which she served as President. Marion was very fashionable. She loved to dress and keep her nails manicured. Even while she was sick her nails and hair had to be in place. Her highlight was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Marion displayed uncanning strength when her two children Darlene and Vernon, and her two sisters Millicent Morris and Doris Griffin, who was her best friend passed. She was the last living matriarch of the Morris family. After a short illness she departed this life with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her bedside on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Words cannot express the sadness the family feels today as we say "Goodbye to Granny, Great Grandma and Auntie". Though the sadness we feel is unbearable, we will take this time to celebrate the beautiful legacy she left behind and cherish each moment of reflection spent thinking of her. She leave to mourn; four grandchildren: Carion Waters (Quanita), Tiffany Waters, Chantel Waters and Lashana Waters; four great-grandchildren: Darion Jr., twins: Derek and Dominic, Taurina, four nieces: Cynthia Griffin-Hood, Marion Scott, Millicent Janey, Yvonne Smith and her dearest nephew Joseph Griffin; a host of relatives and friends.
