Legacy of Love Deaconess Marie Shirley Dickerson, 83, of Goochland, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2026, surrounded by love and the comforting presence of her devoted granddaughter, Jasmin Eddings. Born on April 18, 1942, in Goochland, Virginia, Marie was the treasured daughter of Lucille Woodson. Rooted in the same soil that shaped her gentle spirit, she attended Goochland County Schools and carried with her throughout life the values of strength, humility, and kindness. She later dedicated many faithful years to McDonald’s, where her warm smile and caring nature made her not just an employee but a light in the lives of all who crossed her path. She retired having left behind not just years of service, but a legacy of love. To know Marie was to feel love in its purest form. She was the quiet strength of her family, the soft place to land, the steady presence that made everything feel whole. Her sweetness was not just something she showed—it was who she was. A devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Marie served faithfully on various committees, giving her time and heart as an expression of her deep and abiding faith. She found joy in the simple, beautiful rhythms of life. The kitchen was her gathering place, where meals became memories and love was always the main ingredient. She found peace by the water while fishing, freedom in music, and joy in dancing. Above all, she cherished her family—every laugh, every story, every moment spent together was something she held close. Marie’s life was a reflection of quiet grace, unwavering love, and a heart that gave without asking for anything in return. She lifted others, cared deeply, and loved endlessly. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Emma Newkirk; her sons, Ronald Dickerson and Adam Dickerson; her grandchildren, Jasmin Eddings, Ronnie Newkirk, Clinton Dickerson Jr., Nicholas Newkirk, Ivory Cunningham, Shelita Cunningham, and Aja Hamilton; her dutiful niece, Carol Waddy; and a host of extended grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends who were all touched by her love. She is reunited in peace with her beloved son, Clinton Dickerson Sr., who preceded her in death. Though she may be gone from our sight, her love remains woven into the hearts of all who knew her—guiding, comforting, and enduring.
