Marie Z. Blevins

Marie Blevins, born June 29, 1946, was the kind of woman you don't just remember-you feel her long after she's gone. She wasn't just a person; she was an experience. Warm, funny, protective, and endlessly giving. Marie had a way of making everyone around her feel like they belonged. Marie was born and raised in East Baltimore, Bradford St. to be exact. Raised by her mother and grandmother who she deeply adored. That's where she got her style. Marie loved to get sharp and show out, she would always say " It don't make no sense how many compliments I got last night." Marie was educated in Baltimore City public school and retired from Gann Corp after 45 years. After retirement she found joy in going to yard sales, having her own yard sales, with plenty of good stuff, going to the casino, cooking, gardening and spending time with family. Whatever you needed Ms. Marie had and I mean anything. And she loved the lord. If you ever stepped into her home, you already knew- it didn't matter where you came from or how long you planned to stay. Once you walked through her door, you were hers. And she was going to feed you, check on you, laugh with you, and send you home with more than you came with. Marie had a well- earned reputation: she loved to shop, loved to spend, but would give you her last without hesitation. That was her balance- equal parts style, grace and sacrifice. She had a natural gift for making a home, she "loved to decorate." Every space she touched carried her warmth, her warmth, her personality, and her eye for beauty. But more than decorating rooms. Marie decorated lives. She poured herself into people-raising, guiding, loving, and protecting not only her own children and grandchildren but anyone who needed a mother's touch. To many, she simply was home. To us she was "Ma", "Mommy " and " Grandma" Marie was devoted mother to Zelphia Snipe, Ida Edwards, Charles Blevins, Maurice Blevins, and Margaret Blevins. She now reunites in peace with her beloved husband, Charles Blevins, her sons, Maurice and Dion Snipe, Mother Ada Taylor, Grandmother Mae Scott, brother Francell Craig and grandson Davon Mayo. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren Sharron Curtis (Lamont and Camille), Crystal Tucker (Zamera and Kyre), Joshua Green (Jaiden and Kaiden). Justin Green, Charles Blevins III (Damontay), Dionna Snipe, Jaquetta Myles, Damontay and Davon), Natasha Blevins, Nizaire Bryant (Ni'Jai and Ja'Ziyah), Dionne Snipe and a wide circle of family and extended loved ones who carry her spirit forward. She is also survived by her sisters, Henrietta Chew, Ada and Emestine Taylor, and her brother, Ralph Taylor- each of whom shared in the laughter, strength, and deep family bonds that defined her life. To know Marie was to loved by her. And to be loved by her was something you didn't forget. Her humor, her generosity, her fierce protection, and her unwavering presence created a legacy that will live on in every life she touched. Marie didn't just make a home-she was one. And that kind of love doesn't leave. It lives on in all of us
