Marian L. Fletcher

Marian L. Fletcher was born September 2, 1924 in Savannah, Georgia. She lived her life as a servant of the Lord. On January 24, 2019, while she slept peacefully, an angel of the Lord came by, took her hand and led her home to her Father in heaven. Marian believed in Jesus Christ at the age of five years old. She was baptized sometime later in Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Florida where she became a member and remained a member until she moved to Baltimore. She remained an active worker of the church most of her life. Marian married her childhood sweetheart, Joe Albert Lane. Two children were born to that union, Betty Jean and Kenneth Eugene. Joe and Betty Jean preceded Marian in death. Marian later married John Charles Fletcher and one son was born to that union, John Charles Fletcher, Jr. John Charles Sr. preceded Marian in death. Marian was a Proverbs 31 woman – Proverbs 31:10-31. After Marian completed graduate work earning an M.Ed from the University of Maryland College Park, she enrolled in Arlington Bible Institute and started teaching Sunday School. After receiving a three-year diploma in Bible Study, she enrolled in Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Maryland. She worked with the CEF for two years and started a neighborhood Bible Club in her home. While doing all of the above, Marian worked with Preach-It-Ministries doing field evangelism. She also completed the Evangelism Course of Study with United Baptist Missionaries and Auxiliaries of Maryland, Inc. Marian continued teaching Sunday School and young neighborhood children in the Bible Club until she was unable to stand for long periods of time. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her children, Kenneth Eugene Lane and John Charles Fletcher, Jr.; grandchildren, Anita Cooper, Donald Cooper, Jr., and Nina E. Lane; son-in-law, Donald Cooper, Sr.; nephews, Reverend Lester Weaver, Jr., Reverend Gerald (LaVerne) Weaver and Curtis Weaver; nieces, Cassandra Fletcher, Marilyn R. Fletcher and Pat Bahn Tigaoan; several very longtime devoted friends, Carol Coleman, Astriña Calame (adopted daughter/close friend), Kevin Jones (adopted son/close friend), Jestine Brown, Elder Mary Lucas; as well as many other family, friends and neighbors.
