Margie Dean Reese

Margie Dean Vines Reese was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on March 27, 1932. She was the second child of the seven children of Mrs. Madie Freeman Vines and the late Mr. Venson Vines, Sr. She departed this life peacefully after and extended illness on Monday, April 22, 2002 at St. Agnes Hospital. “Dean,” as she was more affectionately known, received her education at H.B. Sugg High School in Farmville, North Carolina. She graduated from H.B. Sugg High School in 1950. She later met and married the late Mr. Jasper Reese. They moved from North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland. From that union four children were born Danny, Sandra, Patricia and Michael Reese. For twenty-nine years, Dean was employed at University Hospital, where she worked in several capacities. While at University Hospital, Dean was ultimately promoted to Supervisor of Medical Records and she served as a beacon of light to her peers. Her leadership skills, caring attitude and strong maternal instinct won her the respect of all that came to know her. Dean was a faithful member of Pleasant Rock Church. Her daughter Sandra and her two grandsons, Chris and Corey are members there also. To cherish her memory and celebrate her triumph, Dean leaves two daughters, Sandra Reese (her loving, devoted guardian angel) and Patricia Reese; two sons, Danny and Michael Reese; a loving and devoted mother, Madie Vines; one brother, Venson Vines Jr.; five sisters, Dorothy Barnes (Bill), Ann Reese, Mattie Dixon (Edward), Shirley Green (Chauncey, Dean’s buddy), and Carlotta Baker; eight grandchildren, Chris and Corey Scott, who were extremely close to their grandmother, Brionah and Kayla Green, Danny, Danielle, Sharvon and Danika Reese; three great grandchildren, Abria Reese, Deja’ May and Deasija May; four additional brothers-in-law, Chester Reese (Ruby), Robert Reese, Ralph Reese (Wanda) and Norman Blount (Mildred); three additional sisters-in-law, Sally Stevenson, Shirley Little and Peggy Vines; one uncle, Allen Vines of Fountain, North Carolina; a very “ special and devoted friend,” Ike Mitchell; a close friend, Sarah Bass; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
