Margarete Else Dent

Margarete Else(Kraft)Dent,was born on January 17, 1929 in the city of Halle on the Saale River,East Germany. She is the daughter of Ella Margarete Berta Rackwitz and Friedrich Karl Kraft of Germany. She departed this life on Sunday,March 22, 2009 at the home of her devoted daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years,Robert Dent,Jr.,and from this union they have two children,Annelore Dent Temple(devoted son-in-law,Rev. Fernando,Sr.)of Richmond and Zovell Robert Dent(Kim)of Prince George. She is survived by six out of seventeen siblings,Inge,Herman,Kurt,and Irmgart all of Germany and Ingrid(Wolfgang)of Stafford,Va.;six grandchildren,Margaret Temple-Banks,Christel Temple-Giles(Leroy),Fernando E. Temple,Jr.(Barbara),Charmaine Peres,Kendra Peres,and Zamoria Dent;nine great-grandchildren,Ke`Ara Temple,Destani Huffman.Juwan Banks,Daija Temple,Jordan Banks,Jayla Banks,Deondre Watts,Fernando E. Temple III,and Alicia Downey;nephews and nieces,Charles Scales,Sr.,Margaret Jones,Romie Scales,Beverly Scales,and Monika Lucas,a host of other nephews and nieces in Germany;devoted long time friend Christel Sorrell;loyal neighbors Sandra Cox,Dea Morris Scruggs,Shirley and Johnny Barnes;and good bingo friends,Ellen Deavers and Marion Greene.Mrs. Dent became a naturalized American citizen some years ago. As a homemaker and devoted wife of a U.S. Army sergeant,she had a remarkable reputation as a festive,social spirit who brought together friends,neighbors,and her community from places such as Pasco(WA),Anchorage(AK),Washington D.C.,El Paso(TX),Richmond,and Bitburg(Germany)to form relationships that last for over fifty years. Mrs Dent's greatest pleasures came fro sharing time with family in beach activities,fishing,and crabbing in the Tidewater,VA. region and in Edisto Beach,SC. Her other hobbies ranged from crocheting and creating artistic craft and jewelry boxes,to a love for playing bingo.She will be remembered for being a devoted wife,loving mother,adoring and generous grandmother,thoughtful friend,and a glamorous,flashy,well-dressed,fun and enjoyable woman who loved life. Mrs. Dent was the best cook in the world,blending German and African American soul food cuisines with a magic that no one else could duplicate. She was saved and baptized at Brown Grove Baptist Church in Ashland,VA.,and later joined First Bethel Baptist Church in Varina. We celebrate the wonderful memories she has left,and we praise the Lord for her salvation. We have no doubt that she is at peace with the Lord. One of the most memorable pastimes of her final weeks was to see her caught up in the excitement of worship as she enjoyed the televised Sunday morning Gaither Family Reunion and their spiritual rendering of a very special song," I Dreamed of a City Called Heaven." The satisfying climax of this song,"I want to see Jesus" brought tears to her eyes,and the comfort of God's promise consoles us as we remember her.
