Margaret Geraldine Young

Surely in the midst of life we are in the midst of death; as it has pleased the Almighty God to remove from our family circle our beloved MARGARET GERALDINE “GERRY” YOUNG on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. We hear humble submission to our Heavenly Father who does all things well. Gerry was born on October 16, 1940 in Brunswick County, Virginia. She was the sixth of eleven children from the union of the late William Gillis and Annie Brown Gillis. Gerry was educated in Virginia Public School System. After settling in Baltimore, she explored various fields and found her career in Food and Nutrition Services in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was a dedicated and faithful employee who, upon retirement, was recognized for twenty-one years of outstanding service with Food and Nutrition Services. Gerry met and joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Edward Young. They were married for over twenty-four years in wedded bliss. She loved to work and help others in any way she could. She was quick to share a word, and open her heart and home. She was truly a mother and friend to all. Gerry had many and varied interests which she often share with her family and friends. Her passions included cooking, fishing and gardening. She was also and avid sports fan, especially tennis and football. Above all, she loved and deeply cherisher her family, friends and the telephone! Gerry’s beautiful smile, warmth, love thoughtful, and generous ways brought joy and comfort to her family and friends. Her memory will always remain a family treasure. She leaves to remember her in love: her husband, Edward Young; three daughters, Sandra Jones, Etta Jean Isaac and Margaret Gillus; two sons, Bobby Gillis and Anthony Gillis, Sr.; two daughters-in-law; Lydia Gillis and Jean Young Gillis; tow sister, Betty Gillus and Lucille Gillis; two brothers, Jonny Gillis and William Gillis; six sisters-in-law; Shirley Henderson, Helen Anderson, Geraldine Friend, Barbara Young, Yvonne Wallace and Ruth Young; two brothers-in-law, Chris Henderson and William Friend; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; stepdaughters; stepsons; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
