Margaret Jane Wilson

Our beloved Margaret Jane Wilson was born November 17, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of seven children born to the late Robert and Sarah Wilson. God summoned Margaret to the pearly gates of heaven August 4, 2016 and reunited with loved ones. Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of House of Prayer in South Philadelphia for many years. She often attended church with her grandfather to hear him play music for the church. Eventually, Margaret was baptized twice. Our Margaret was a loyal, caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was known for her beautiful smile and her kindness. Above all she was known as a woman of faith — a believer to the end! Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling the east coast during her leisure time. Another favorite past-time was working crossword puzzles and discussing the daytime “soaps” with her son Anwar. After she was no longer able to drive, she always welcomed the time spent with her son Clarence as he drove her to various appointments and to the market for shopping. Her grandchildren were an extension of her heartbeat and she loved them all tremendously and equally. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Her speciality dish was liver and onions. She held a long-standing career with various icons of the dry cleaning industry such as Shabazz Cleaners of Philadelphia, Sunlight, Mozelle’s One Hour Martinizing and Colony Cleaners of Richmond, until her health no longer permitted her to work. Margaret was preceded in death by brother, Gasell Wilson; sisters, CloraSelle, Rosalee and Sarah, and her companion, Melvin Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memories two beloved sons, Clarence Wilson (Jacquelyn) and Anwar Nassir; three grandchildren, Hameed Wilson (Aeriel), Asim Wilson and Leon Javari Hayes; five great-grandchildren, Simina, Cheyanne, Chloe, Nuri and Syun; brother, Clarence Wilson; sister, Eloise Wilson; brother-in-law, Morris Lumb, Sr., nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A Mother’s Push It seems like yesterday when you put your fingers upon our backs, pushing us lovingly in the direction you wanted us to go, pushing us to walk, pushing us to talk, pushing us to grow and pushing us in a direction towards manhood. Along with the push came a motherly voice, guiding us and teaching us to be self-sufficient and to stand on our own two feet. Like a mother Eagle, pushing her little ones out of the nest, you taught us how to fly. But now Angels have their fingers upon your back, pushing you in God’s direction, pushing you away from us. But deep down inside, we know, a mother’s push is everlasting.
