Margaret Jackson

Margaret Jackson, affectionately known to all as “Mama,” peacefully entered eternal rest on December 26, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the heart of her family—their beloved matriarch, steady foundation, and greatest source of love. Born on March 20, 1930, and raised in North Carolina, Margaret was the daughter of the late Ella Lindsay and the late Mr. Mashburn. She was also a cherished sister to Martha, Anna, and Cecil, all of whom are deceased, but each held a special place in her heart. Margaret later met and married the love of her life, the late Larry Jackson, and together they raised a family of six children. As a devoted wife and mother, she balanced the responsibilities of home while proudly supporting her role as a military wife, meeting life’s demands with grace, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family. Known for her nurturing spirit and practical wisdom, Mama firmly believed in not wasting money and instilled in her family the values of thrift, responsibility, and making the most of what you have. Her lessons were lived examples, passed down through generations. Margaret was a hardworking woman who devoted many years as a Chef with Blue Phelps Catering, taking pride in serving others and sharing her love through food. Beyond her responsibilities, Mama embraced joy. She loved music and cherished partying, laughing, and celebrating with family and friends, creating memories filled with warmth, rhythm, and togetherness that will forever be treasured. Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Larry Jackson; her beloved children Beverly Jackson, Sandra Jackson, Kevin C. Jackson, and André Jackson, whom she held close in her heart throughout her life. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Melody Dunham and Michelle Jackson; grandchildren Kevin Brown, Sean Jackson, Brandon Windham, Juuan McGee, Jamal Reaves, Daniel Reaves, and Tierra Baker; as well as a host of great-grandchildren; extended family members; and dear friends. Margaret is also lovingly remembered by her special caretaker, Tonae Taylor, who cared for and loved her as a daughter loves her mother. Mama cherished her relationship with Tonae and embraced her as one of her very own children, a bond built on love, trust, and deep mutual respect. Mama will be remembered for her nurturing heart, strong values, joyful spirit, and the way she brought family together. Though she has transitioned from this life, her legacy lives on through the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories shared in music, laughter, and celebration.
