Mardel Turner

Mardel Turner, son of the late Nettie Mollock and David Turner, was born on January 4, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Mardel received his education at Douglas High School. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Betty Ann Turner,they married on May 16, 1958. Of this glorious union, four children were born - Gregg, Kenn, Cathy and Todd. Mardel was a devoted husband and father. He was also an instrumental part of raising his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed every moment with them. He LOVED his family! He began working at the age of 19. Mardel worked at W.T. Cowan and later retired from National Gypsum in 2002. In the early 1980's, Mardel accepted Christ Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of Johns Tabernacle, in Baltimore, MD. Family and friends knew Mardel as a kind, mild mannered, humble, loving, one-of-a-kind man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was extraordinary! His commitment to family was like no other. Mardel had a beautiful soul and touched the lives of everyone that came in contact with him. He was the true definition of a man of God and will be TRULY missed. He will be remembered for his favorite says "true dat & twenty-nine one more time". He loved watching westerns, fried chicken and an ice cold cup of water. Boxing was one of his favorite sports to watch. Mardel also loved the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nettie Mollock and David Turner; his son Gregg Turner and daughter Cathy Turner. Mardel is survived by his loving wife of 59 phenomenal years, Betty Ann Turner; two children, Kenn Turner (Precious), Todd Turner (Bronlyn); one sister Thomasina Mollock (Kevin); one niece Latarsha Carpenter (Devin); one nephew Kevin Ball; two great nieces Rajae' Sephes and Deja' Carpenter; one great nephew, Mathew Ball; five grandchildren, India-Sade Truley, Devon Brockington (Shatira), Breyon Graves, Tarazi Turner and Armani Turner; four great-grandchildren, Amonte Lewis, Shamir Bennett, Leighton Henley and Denver Brockington; four special family members, Shawon Thompson, Jermal Thompson, Steven Trotman and Clarissa Beckles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
