Mamie Ruth Reid

MAMMIE RUTH REID, age 83 entered a new city, a new life on Sunday April 2, 2017 after a lenfthy illness. I was born November 14, 1933 in Greenville, NC to Jesse and Louella Wilson. My education was completed at Paul Lawrence Dunbar Sr. High School, Baltimore, MD class of 1952. I was baptized at Mount Pleasant in the 1950's and this is where I met the love of my life, Charles Reid Sr. and we married on February 19, 1953. Together we created our loving family, Charles “Bennie”, James “Jimmy”, Sheila “Kitty”, Sheryl “Shebby” (deceased) and Linda (deceased), all of whom we deeply loved. I enjoyed being with people and ventured ito the woring world at 5 and 10 cents store and than onto FW Woolworths at the main Merchandiser. Upon hearing the announcement of my grandbaby Ashley's birth, I joyously retired to become her daycare provider as a gift to my daughter. Throughout my blessings as an active member at Mount Pleasant, I served with the willing Workers Society, the Flower Circle Society and the Pastor's Aid Minisrty. My enjoyment came from being a Wife and a mother. I loved to crochet, sing and dance with my children, my husband and Ashley and Khalyn. We took a summer and a winter vacation every year to ensure that our children traveled, and I so loved my trip with my daughter Sheila and Sheryl traveling to Canada in the 70's. We often entertained and our home was frequently enjoyed by all who entered. Many of our children's friends made our home their second home because they were comfortable and safe. To my daughter Shelia, thank you for taking me into your home to care for me when I could no longer care for myself, to my granddaughter Ashley, thank you for doing my manicures and pedicures and always being with me (I remember you), my son-in-law Kelvin, thank you for carring me when I could no longer walk, my son James, thank you for the flowers and nutritional drinks, my sister Mae thank you for assisting with my care, to my son Charles, Kitty, granddaughter Keysha and Rodney, thanks you for searching for me when I wandered away (smile). As I dwell forevermore in the presence of GOD the father and his Son Jesus Christ in the Celestial Kingdom of GOD, I leave you to peacefully mourn and cherish my memory: my devoted children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great-children; sister, Shirley Mae and Efferine, uncle, JB Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
