Mamie Lee Colston

Early on Monday morning, January 7, 2008, Mamie was quietly called home to be with her Lord. Mamie was born to the late Fred and Millie Colston on March 1, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland.Mamie received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, and at the age of forty-two she received her G.E.D.For many years, she worked for the Maryland Sweetheart Cup Corp. In her later years, she enjoyed being a school bus driver, truck driver and transportation provider.Mamie made friends wherever she traveled. No one was considered a stranger once they met her. Mamie was a mother to many who were in need of a mother’s love. Mamie was tireless giver to all those she came in contact with. If she had it, then you had it. She provider shelter, room and board for those who were in need. Also, Mamie cherished her dogs and cats in her heart, especially “Sandman.”She will always be remembered for all oh her kindness, thoughtfulness and prayers that she exhibited to those she befriended. “She was always there for everyone.”As a young child, Mamie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. As a young adult, she rededicated her life to the Lord and again was baptized by Bishop Donald Rudolph of Chester, N.Y. Mamie loved the Lord greatly. Her favorite verse if scripture that she gave to everyone was the 91st Psalm, ‘He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” She was a faithful member of the New Zion Worship Center of Baltimore Maryland.Mamie leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, Kenneth Roscoe; daughter, Ona Mays; sister, Mrs. Fredlena Roles; brother-in-law, Eugene Tyrone Roles; niece, Karen M.Roles; goddaughter, Tanja Fortune; godmother; Mrs. Mary Boone; four grandsons, Antonio Mays, Daeron Armstrong, Leslie Mays and Raphael Curtis, Mamie made many friends while residing at the Genesis Healthcare who will cherish her memory, especially Mr. Chauncey Melvin and Mr. Wade Gross. She also leaves a host of cousins and other relatives of Baltimore, Md, Danville, Va. Philadelphia, PA., and Arlington, TX.
