Mamie Lue Howard

Mamie Lue Howard was born on October 26, 1943 in Tarboro, North Carolina to the late Hosie Howard Sr. and Annie Mae Lloyd Howard. Mamie was well loved by her family and friends. She departed her life after a short illness at Levindale Nursing Home in Baltimore Maryland. Mamie Lue Howard was the fourth of eight children. She attended Brawley Senior High School in North Carolina. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the mid 60’s. and was employed at The Fish Laundry Company for almost 30 years. Mamie was introduced to the Christian Temple Faith Church, where she began attending worship services and later gave her life to Christ and became a member under the leadership of Pastor Crump. Mamie loved her family dearly and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for you even if it came down to sharing her home. She had a very special relationship with children (yours and mine), although she had no children of her own, Mamie became a mother figure to many. She was an affectionate, caring and generous person. Mamie loved being with her family no matter what the occasion and was known for her motherly mannerizing and her tasty potato salad. Mamie would sit on the front porch while enjoying the breeze and talking on the phone and from time to time she would rub on her knees- saying, “UNHUH,- UNHUH yep yep that’s right, that’s right” LOL- She believed that Jesus Christ was the Redeemer of her soul and He gave her great family and friends to help live out her life. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Dora Smith, and sister, Lucy Howard. Mamie leaves to celebrate her life: her devoted sister, Mary Howard-Eccles; five brothers, James Howard (Edwina), Willie Howard (a devoted sister-inlaw Lula) all from Maryland, Robert Howard (Angela), Hosie Howard Jr. (Patricia) and Donald Howard (Bert) all from North Carolina; two aunts, Margie Arnold and Lucy Dickens all from North Carolina; sixteen nieces and nephews, Kathy, Melvin, Towan, DeRon, Tara, John, Darryl, Larry, Robert Jr., Thaddeus, Kelvin, Brian, Brittney, and Arnetta (two preceded her in death, Jody Howard and James Howard Jr.); and a host of great nieces and great-nephews, family and friends.
