Mamie Beatrice Coles

Obituary Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22 God saw her getting tired, a cure not meant to be, So He wrapped His arms around her and whispered gently, “Come with Me”. Our beloved Mamie Beatrice Coles, also affectionately known as “Bea” or BeaBea” was born on January 6, 1943 to the late Robert and Susan Williams in Charles City, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Williams, Russel and Clairborne Williams. She joined Parish Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She was employed by Lord Paget of Williamsburg, Virginia for many years until she retired. Mamie was a woman of many great qualities and shared her wisdom with whomever was in her presence. She always had a joke to tell and a story to brighten your day. Beside being a giving and loving person if she had it and you needed it, then it was yours. Not only was she a loving mother to her kids, she was their best friend. She also had a lot of non biological kids. She took care of the sick, the lonely and the elderly. It was not because she had to do it but, because it was in her heart. When God took her, he left a lot of broken hearts. She was loved by many. Don’t cry for her, it’s us who are without. Mamie was the cohort always ready for fun times. When she became a grandmother, she was proud to fulfill that role. Our beloved Mamie will be missed by all. We know that she lives in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her as being upbeat and full of life. We were so fortunate to have had her in our lives and we feel empty without her. I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. Mamie leaves to cherish her memory devoted husband, Willie Coles Sr.; nine loving children, Willie Coles Jr. (Azalia), Brenda Otey (Charles), Patricia Coles, Arthur Coles (Tracie), Robert Coles, William Coles (Sabrina), Charlene Carter (Keith), Sabrina Jones (Frankie), and JoAnn Coles (Charles Otey); nineteen wonderful grandchildren, Tia Abercrombie (Quinicy), Jennifer Otey, Kierra Bowman, Marcus Coles, Maurice Coles, Charles Otey, Branden Coles, Marsha Coles, Jasmine Coles, Wesley Coles, Ryan Coles, Keonte Bowman, Cherish Jones, Jamie Johnson Jr., Keidra Carter, Kyle Coles, Taborri Carter, Kayla Coles, Kamora Coles and Jewel Coles; five great-grandchildren, Maurice Coles Jr., Jayden Abercrombie, Daniyah Coles, Samaya Bowles, and Omarion Coles; two devoted sisters, Susie Jones (Alvin) and Sarah Williams; five caring brothers, Charlie Williams (Gloria), William Williams (Otelia), George Williams Sr. (Berthel), Philip Williams (Beatrice) and Wesley Williams (Ada), and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We little knew that day that God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you Mamie, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. ~ The Coles Family
