Macio Facon

MACIO FACON, a.k.a Jimmy Murray was born on May 7,1919 in Red Springs, North Carolina. He was the third eldest son of John T. and Lillie Mae Murray. He departed this life on December 15, 2011 in Union Memorial Hospital. Macio started working at a very early age, allowing very little time for school and learning. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the 1940s. He had no fear of hard work. He used his common sense and learned many different trades. Coal man, Ice man, Auto Mechanic, but his true passion was gardening. He loved planting grass flowers and trees. His greatest joy was watching his seeds grow. In the 1950s he met Emma Louise Pope and later they got married. From this union there wasn't any children. He loved his sister-in-law; Shirley Harris' seven children as if they were his own. Macio worked at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for ten years as Head Landscaper. He retired from Baltimore City after thirty years of service. Macio accepted Christ at an early age. He was a God-fearing man. Macio was a strong hard man. He would FUSS at a drop of a dime. That was the way he showed his love. He really didn't mean any harm. You had to know him to understand him. He worked hard for everything he had and would give you his shirt off his back. Don't try to cross him or you would have hell to bear. He was preceded in death by: his sisters, Mamie Rozier Novella McBryde, Annie Bell Willams, Gladys Murray and Rebecca Patterson of Red Springs, North Carolina; his brother, George Murray, Fred Murray and John C. Murray of Red Spring, North Carolina, Oscar Murray and William Murray of Baltimore,Maryland and Monroe Murray of Fayetteville, North Carolina, also sister-in-law, Shirley Harris and brother-in-law, Webster Harris of Baltimore, Maryland. Macio leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Emma Louise Facon; his brother, Robert L. Murray of Bronx, New York ; his sisters, Ruby Breeden of Raeford, North Carolina and Ethel Black of Red Springs, North Carolina; many loving nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and many precious dear friends and non-related family members.
