MABLE ELIZABETH THOMAS Mable Elizabeth Thomas, affectionately known as “Dolly” was born on September 3, 1937; attended Bruton Heights High School, in Williamsburg, VA. She moved to Richmond, Virginia and later joined the Ephesus SDA Church, where she used her vocal skills as a member of the Ephesonians choir. She was a Pathfinder leader, served as a Deaconess, a member of the Community Service outreach program, and was a member of the Widowed Person’s Ministry. She was also a member of the Ebonettes Social Club several years ago. She specialized in supervisory culinary arts at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, where she retired after 30 years of service. She was known for utilizing her culinary arts skills to cater weddings and other functions. She loved challenging the word search puzzles, day in and day out. Her most enjoyable times were studying the Bible, and Sabbath School Lessons, watching church service on Churchpond on Sabbath morning, when she was unable to make it to church; singing and praising God as though she was right there. She was full of God’s glory. While spending time with God, and collecting her morning thoughts, she enjoyed watching the ducks in the pond from her bedroom window. She loved riding her stairlift, up and down the stairs, pretending it was a vehicle, and would at times say, “I guess I need to stop and get some gas before it runs out, or I’ll be walking back up”. She loved family and encouraged family gatherings. Mable enjoyed vacationing, seeing plays and attending gospel concerts. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved basketball and football, and was a great fan of the Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys. Mable was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Hobson, and 3 brothers Robert Green, Charles Green, and Calvin Hadley. Those remaining to remember her are her 3 children; Horace Green, Deborah Jones and James Green (Cynthia),9 Grandchildren; Kiani Jones,Shonda Collins,Shea Jones,Dionca Green,Kendal Green,Deondra Green,Brandee Green, Brittany Green,and Ashley Waddy. 12 Great grandchildren;Anthony,Kianyha,Malea,Kia,Jordon,Shimshown,Camari,TriShon,Bless'ed,Ka'Liyah, Prince,and My'Khi,4 brothers;Ray Rasheed(Eva),Pastor Ronnie Hobson(Charmaine),Carl Hobson,and Melvin Hobson(Frances), 1 aunt;Irene Hadley(Baltimore),Devoted Cousins;Audrey Simpson,Carol Lynch,Mary Helen Simpson,and Valarie Travers,1 Daughter-in-law;Cynthia Green(devoted),4 sisters-in-law;Eva Rasheed(devoted),Charmaine Hobson,Frances Hobson and Mary Hadley,Special friends;LeOla Massey,Alberta Brooks and a host of nieces,nephews,loving relatives and friends.
