Mable M. Brownson

Mable was born June 30, 1929 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Dennis and Margaret McGowan. Mable was educated in the Baltimore City school systems. She was married to the late Clarence Rogers, Sr. for over thirty-five years. From their union were born eleven children: Clarence Jr., Shirley, Bertha, Hosea (deceased) Joseph, Kenneth, Gladys, Tyrone, Denise (deceased) Michelle deceased) and her baby boy Dennis. Mable also raised her granddaughter, Tanya Anderson. Later in life, she married the late Charles Brownson whom she loved dearly. Momma was a devoted mother. She sacrificed greatly for her children and grandchildren, desiring that they would take good care of themselves and be kind to each other. She never wanted strife and dissension to separate her family. She'd spank your rump, if she had too! She was a woman of integrity, faith and unselfishness. When she said it, she stood by what she said. As much as she had, was as much as she would give. Mom cared for her son Joseph until she could do it no longer. She was the epitome of a mother, loving and supporting family, friends and even some of her neighbors with open arms. If you were hungry she fed you; if you needed a dime she'd try to give you at least a nickel; when you were hurting, she'd hurt r you and encourage you to press on! Momma also had a great love for hats. She would wear them for nearly every occasion! As a young woman, she joined the First Charity Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. She later joined Communinty Church Of Christ under the leadership of the late Apostle James Jones. Momma loved and trusted the Lord to lead her in every situation in life. For over thirty years, Mom was employed by Nancy and Joel Rabin. She loved them as she did her natural family and they loved her , too. When Leah and Rebecca married and had children she was elated! We are so thankful to you all. Words will never be able to express the love and gratitude our family has for the Rabin Family. Mable leaves to cherish her 5 sons and 4 daughters; her dear sister Linda Scrivens; 2 sons-in-law Robert and Quinton; 2 daughters-in-law Marcella and Sheila; 31 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, our extented families the Rabin's, the Whitley's, the Brown's, Carla and Keenan and a host of friends and other relatives.
