Lynette Thornhill Bowser

Lynette Thornhill Bowser was born on July 29, 1958, in Richmond, VA to the Iate, Ollie Thornhill and Thomas Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband James Bowser, Jr., her parents, and siblings, Gwendolyn and Anthony Thornhill, and Cynthia Temple. Lynette was educated in The Richmond Public System and was a proud graduate of "The Mighty Green Dragons" where she was an academic standout. After high school, Lynette attended and graduated from Smithdeal-Massey Business College. With her caring heart, soft and gentle spirit, family, and friends always knew that they could count on Lynette to be there for them. During her younger years, Lynette watched out for her younger brother to make sure he stayed on the right track. She devoted a lot of that time babysitting, paid or unpaid, for one of her many nieces or nephews. Aunt Bobby knew she could count on Lynette to take her to appointments and the supermarket; plus assist her in getting up in the truck. That is a duty she shared with her sister-cousin Linda. They called it "delivering the package". Lynette retired as an Administrative Support Specialist from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services after over 30 years of outstanding service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Upon retirement, Lynette passionately pursued golf, tennis, running marathons, riding her bike, and most recently playing pickleball. It was nothing to call Lynette and find her pursuing one of these passions whether it was at the gym, on the greens or on a court. She traveled nationally and internationally to play golf with the Top Lady Clubbers/Lady Smashers golf groups. She was always proud of her "hole-in-one". Lynette is survived by her brothers; Gary (Karyn), Robert, and Rodney Thornhill & Michael Miller (Barbara); uncle, Robert Lee Thornhill; devoted aunt Barbara Bennett; devoted cousin, Linda Anderson (Leslie); bonus daughters, Dawn Bowser Gilliard (Keith), Loren Bowser Martin (Oscar) and Jamie A. Bowser; bonus grandchildren,Javon, Camryn, Kyle and Miles; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Simmons (Sonny), and Christine Bowser; brothers-in-law, George, Sr. (Evelyn), and Raymond Bowser; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
