Lula Mae McDuffie

LULA MAE MCDUFFIE, daughter of the late Alfred Price McDuffie and Ethel Brown-McDuffie was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She suddenly departed this life on June 6, 2024, peacefully, in her sleep. Her father and mother passed away at very young ages, by untimely deaths, and Lula and her sisters were raised by their Aunt Ethel (Ann Sister). Lula received her education at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed at Baltimore Luggage Company for ten years and later was hired at Bayview Medical Center from which she retired after 20 years. After retirement, she worked for a daycare center for a short period time. She was baptized at an early age at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Black, and later became a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family; especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of babies and was a long-time active member of the Feed the Children program. She was a woman that spoke her mind and didn’t tolerate nonsense. However, she loved her family, enjoyed spending time with them, and attending family gatherings. She was very close to her sisters, where they would talk on the phone for hours. In her younger days, she loved to dance and at an older age she loved watching others dance and have fun... as well as going on road trips. She was preceded in death by her father Albert; Mother Ethel, two children Paul and Darlene, one granddaughter Laquanda (Crystal), three sisters Annie Mae, Shirley, and Aldonia, one brother Eddie, along with a special cousin Ethel Mae, and a special niece Joyce Ann. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Cathy Poindexter; son, Anthony Fletcher; daughter-in-law, Angelina Fletcher; one sister, Susan Thomas (Tiny); one brother-in-law, Earl Robinson; six grandchildren, Dontaze, Antoine, Darrell, Tiekesha (Kesha), Denzel; her adopted granddaughter, Danyell (Dana); five great-grandchildren, Carlec, Chancatasia (Tasia), Daquan, Stephon, Kori; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, a long-time best friend, Elizabeth; and special cousins, Celestina, and Lamont (Man).
