Lucille Edith Hawkins- Scott

Lucille E. Hawkins Scott was born July 26, 1908 in New Orleans, Louisiana through the union of the late Phillip Hawkins and Emily B. Hawkins. She was one of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Scott was ninety-six years old when she departed this life on October 7, 2004 at Forest Haven Nursing Home, Baltimore, Maryland.Lucille’s educational experiences began in the public schools of New Orleans, Louisiana. Later she studied at Straight Business College and for many years worked as a secretary.Lucille was in a brief union with David Knight. They had one son, Bobby G. Knight who died in August, 2000.In 1938, Lucille married Issac Arthur Scott, who preceded her in death in January 1966. This marriage produced three daughters, Carolyn, Dolores and Doris. Lucille also reared one stepson, Ernest L. Scott who died in September 1955.Lucille became affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church at an early age. She remained a faithful member of the choir, served as Church secretary and taught Sunday school until coming to reside in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973. Upon moving here she became a member of Garrison Boulevard United Methodist Church. At the time of her death she was a faithful member of Orchard Park Christian Jubilee Church United Methodist.Lucille was a strong Christian whose faith in God’s goodness never wavered throughout her long life on earth. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver to her many nieces and nephews.Lucille leaves to cherish her memory: thee daughters, Carolyn S. Butler, Dolores S. Scott, Doris E. Scott; son-in-law, Amos Butler, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Gale M. Knight, Michael Knight, David Knight, Phillip Knight, Sean C. Scott, Pamela Knight, Melanie C. Butler and Shannon Knight; nine great-grandchildren, Kenton L. Johnson, Jasmine Knight , DaNeal E. Knight-McCoy, Phillip J. Hall, David Knight, Jr., Bobby Knight, DaNeal E. Knight-McCoy, Phillip J. Hall, David Knight, Jr., Bobby Knight, Major, Kevin and Nicholas Knight; one great-grandchild, Christian Sharper; eleven nieces and nephews, Verdell Barnes, Joyce Clifton, Janice Washington, Gwendolyn Turbo, Barbara Smith, Hartzell Craig, James Craig, Ronald Craig, Edwin Craig, Donald Craig; and other family members and friends who reside in Arizona, California, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada and Texas.
