Louise Thompson

On December 1, 2015 at 6:54 PM, God with great mercy and infinite wisdom, gently closed the eyes of our mother, sister, sister- in- law, aunt, cousin, and friend, LOUISE THOMPSON, and received her into his rest. Louise was born on October 20, 1920. She was the daughter of the late, John and Lillia Lawry, Sr. She received Christ at an early age , and was baptized at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Blair, South Carolina; where she also received her education at the Chapel School System. Louise later moved to Baltimore, MD where she was united in marriage in July 1943, to her late husband, Moses (Gubb) Thompson, who departed his life on September 6, 1970. Out of the 27 year union, one child was born to them, John Moses Thompson. Louise worked hard to raise her son, as she now accepted her new role as a single mom; always trusting that God would see her through. She was employed for many years in Domestic work for the Homemakers Association of Md. Then in September 1956, Louise joined the Mount Pleasant Church Family. There she served faithfully and tirelessly for many years on the Missionary Society, and was both Assistant and Corresponding Secretary. She also served on the sick committee, which is the ministry she loved the most. She found great comfort in visiting and praying with others. Louise served her church faithfully for nearly 54 years; until her health prevented her from making services regularly. But even then, her late and devoted friend, Catherine Peay, always made a way to stop by and pick her up; making sure she could get to the house of God. Louise had a gentle spirit. She was a quiet person, who only sought out to please the Lord. She never complained, no matter what her circumstance. She knew Go for herself, and she knew how to call on him. Her favorite song, “May the work I’ve done speak for me” conveys exactly the woman she was. Her favorite scripture, 1 Peter: 5; let’s you know that she understood humbling herself before the lord, and casting all her cars upon him. She leaves to cherish her precious memories- her son, John (Butch) Moses Thompson; one sister, Laura Mae Stevenson (age 99 of Blair, SC) two brothers in law, Frank Thompson & John ( Beulah) Thompson ( All of Baltimore, Md); and two dear nieces, Joyce Pearson (SC) and Doris Whetsone (OH). Louise also leaves behind her loving nieces and caregivers, Kim Morgan and Joan Thompson-Hill(both of MD); as well a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Louise has now joined her father and mother, sister Fannie Williams, Rosetta Lawry, Janie Lee Coleman, Nellie Rae Lawry and her brother, John Lawry, Jr., in eternity.
