Loring Dunlap Gordon

“I shall grow old, but never loose life’s zest, because the road’s last turn will be felt best.” Henry Van DykeLoring Dunlap Gordon, son of the late Sara (nee Fellman) and the late Berkley Gordon, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 25, 1918. He departed this life on November 16, 2004 at the Veterans Hospice at 11:30 P.M.His maternal grandmother, the late Amanda Fellman, raised Loring and his two sisters, Alice and Violet (deceased), along with his adopted sister, the late Amanda Fellman Mitchell. Loring attended the Baltimore public schools.His marriage to Omega Johnson produced three children, Gloria, Loring, and Charlene. His early career as a merchant seaman resulted in travel all over the globe. He retired from the Stevenson Company, a food service vendor. Loring loved the horses, baseball, football, and music. He will be remembered for his charm, his sincerity and humor, and his stylish clothes.Loring lived in New York for about forty years. In 1976, he became a member and was baptized at The Grace United Methodist Church. Loring returned home to Baltimore in 1998. He resided at the Bel-Park Towers apartment complex. He was proud of the accomplishments of his three adult children, Gloria, Loring and Charlene. He enjoyed the company of his grand and great grand children at family gatherings. Loring made friends easily and was admired by family and peers. His friends called him Pine and/or Porcupine.He leaves to mourn: his three children, Gloria Burton, Loring Gordon Jr., and Charlene Butler; his sister, Alice Ross; his former wife and mother of his children, Omega Johnson; his grandchildren, Angela Burton, Gerald Burton, Victor Johnson, Mari Gordon, Sarah Gordon, Hewitt Gordon, Sandy Gordon, Ibadat Gordon, Amina Gordon, Ashia Gordon, David Butler, Lisa Butler; his great grandchildren, Whitney Burton, Marvin Price II, Vashti Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Dymon Butler, Brian Butler, Chanel Alpough-Butler, Taliah and Tyra Gordon, Jaylen Parks; many nieces and nephews; and a devoted son-in-law, Gerald Wilson Burton.“I will lift up my eyes to the hills-from whence comes my help.
