LORETTA DUNLAP

LORETTA DUNLAP, daughter of the late James Dunlap and Pearl Dunlap, was born on November 17, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed from this life on August 29, 2019. Loretta earned her high school diploma in 1975 as a graduate of Dunbar High School located in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing high school Loretta immediately joined the work force. From the onset of her days as an employee, Loretta maintained an extremely strong work ethic and longevity of employment. Human Resources Personnel extended offers of employment readily to Loretta because they were confident that she would maintain her status as a dependable and hardworking employee. Throughout Loretta’s life she primarily worked two jobs: Solo Cup Company for more than 20 years and Stella Maris Nursing Center for 18 years. Loretta’s commitment to strong work ethic was tenacious and unwavering. Even during difficult life circumstances or inclement weather conditions, Loretta was committed to reporting to work every day. She understood the importance of each of her positions and worked tirelessly to fulfil her commitment of service. Loretta loved life and enjoyed ongoing fellowship with others. Her delightful tone and endearing disposition made her a person with whom family and friends would gravitate. Since her mother Pearl passed away in 2002, Loretta’s home became the hub for the family. On any given day her siblings or nieces and nephews could be found hanging out, laughing and reminiscing about times present and past. Her home was always open to family and friends and exuded much love and positivity. “When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” -Maya Angelou Loretta was an extremely generous person. She often extended herself to help those in need. She readily opened her home to those needing a place to stay or enjoy a hot meal. Her compassion was far reaching and impactful. For enjoyment, Loretta loved to listen to music, play a friendly game of Pokeno or cheer on her beloved Ravens. During recent years, she accompanied her eldest sister Carolyn on a 7-day cruise to enjoy sunny days and blue skies. Loretta leaves to mourn: three sisters, Carolyn Sinclair, Yvonne Dunlap, and Janet Toliver; three brothers, Melvin Dunlap, Ronald Dunlap and Tyrone Dunlap (her brother, James Edwards Jr., sister Brenda Dunlap and sister-in-law Vilma Ramos preceded her in death). Loretta is also survived by her well-loved aunt Ada Logan. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish fond memories
