Lolita V. Cooper

LOLITA V. COPPER,daughter of the late Robert Evans and Celeste Morris (Pope), was born on June 21, 1946. She departed this life suddenly, August 13, 2011. Lolita was raised in Baltimore, Maryland by her mother and adopted father Herbert Pope. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Shortly after High School, Lolita married her childhood sweetheart Robert Cooper. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Chanelle and Monica, who she was very proud of and loved to brag about. In her early life, she worked as a seamstress in various sewing factories. Lolita loved to sew for her daughters, coordinating their hand sewn garments right down to matching shoes. Lolita who was affectionately Known as Aunt Lo” enjoyed many things about life but her biggest enjoyment was her family. Being the oldest of nine she was a natural caregiver and an excellent cook. Aunt Lo was the epitome of nice. She would give you her last penny and share food with those that did not have it. She was always concerned about her nieces, nephews and grandchildren, making sure that everyone was remembered during holiday, birthday and special occasions. All who knew her had their own special relationship with her and after just one encounter with her, you became a friend. Aunt Lo was a music connoisseur and a crossword puzzle whiz. She knew music of all types, genres and generational spans. Her nieces, nephews and grandchildren marveled at how she knew the words to both the Ojay's and Jay-Z. In her later years, Lolita battled many health issues. Despite this, she kept her sense of humor and caring nature for others. She found particular joy in her great-granddaughter Talayeh and Zion. Lo was also particularly close to her sister and twin Bernie and her parents who helped to care for her until the end of her life. She leaves to celebrate her memory and legacy: two devoted daughters, Chanelle Cooper and Monica Cooper; parents, Herbert Pope and Celeste Morris- Pope, one son-in-law, William Gholson; two grandchildren, Rashad Gholson and Cha'Mon Gholson; a very special nephew, Joshua Morris; two great-granddaughters, Talayeh McGlotten and Zion Gholson; three sisters, Bernadette Weinberg, Lorraine Duppins and Barbara Morris; four brothers, Charles Duppins Jr., Calvin Duppins Sr., Wayne Morris and Larry Morris Sr.; one aunt. Lessie Gannon; one uncle, Clifton Morris Jr.; nine sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces,nephews, cousin and a host of endearing friends and relatives.
