Lisa S. Nelson

Lisa Shirrell Nelson was born on March 2, 1969 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Denise Gilliam and George Robert Solomon. She departed this life on October 25, 2006, after a lengthy illness.Lisa attended Baltimore City public school and in 2004 she was the proud recipient of her High School Diploma. All smiles she had met her lifelong goal. Our mother Lisa persevered as she studied at PTC to become a phlebotomist and later she was employed as a nursing assistant at Healthy Start.Lisa was a kind hearted loving person. She was a beautiful mother. As she reared her children to aspire to a higher education, she took her nieces and nephew under her wing, too. To know Christ was the significant part of her life, her children’s life and her nieces LaTerra, LaNerra, Davonna, Daishell and her nephew DaJuan as well. She was involved in her children’s school activities, parties, lessons and she volunteered on a regular basis.Lisa’s Christian education began at an early age at the Solid Rock Pentecostal Church, later she continued her worship at Temple of Prayer Holiness Assembly. A praying woman she was a prayer partner with all church members.Lisa depended on her grandmother Annie Pearl Wilson for advice, but she also had a special love for the only father she knew and adored Ralph Gilliam. At eight years of age Ralph Gilliam provided for her and reared her to adulthood. During her illness he was a chauffeur to all her doctor appointments and pharmacist visits. He was also her leaning post with shoulders to help her bear her burdens. We must say he was a father to all of us.She leaves to cherish her memories three children Derrick, Danisha, and Donnache’, a special and devoted niece that she raised as her own LaTerra Hershey, two sisters Dcvii and Tonisha, one stepsister Pwanyetta, one stepbrother Jamar, her precious grandmother Annie Pearl Wilson, three nieces LaNerra, Davonna, Daishell and one nephew DaJuan. Lisa’s extended family consists of grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Walter Gilliam, four aunts Betty, Dietrich, Delores and Beverly, on uncle Morris and a host of cousins.
