Lisa Michelle Ashe

Lisa Michelle Jones Ashe was born April 26, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland to Lee Morris Jones, Sr. and Joyce Chatmon. She departed this life on September 14, 2006, following a lengthy illness. At an early age she accepted Christ and joined Union Baptist Church.Lisa was the second born of five children. Her brother Geoffrey Anthony preceded her in death. During her formative years, her life was blessed by a loving stepfather, Jesse Edward McCoy, Sr. and supportive extended family. She was the granddaughter of the late William and Pearl Chatmon, the late Andrew and Julia Jones and the late Mary J. McCoy.Lisa was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, where she excelled academically. She took great pride and “authority” in her position as the eldest sibling, though she was physically the smallest in stature.She further enjoyed “pulling rank” on her cousins as the oldest grandchild. Lisa had a contagious smile and healthy sense of humor, which often included laughing at her anxiety to tell a joke, and her inability to remember the punchline. She enjoyed playing board games (as long as she was winning) and made many friends (as long as she was in charge). Lisa loved watching old black and white movies, shared a passion for music (especially the artist known as Prince), and her favorite color was yellow. She also had fun “experimenting” with new recipes.On June 24, 1989, Lisa married James Alphonso Ashe, Jr. During this union they became the proud parents of their only child, James A. Ashe, III, who they treasure and adore.Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband James A. Ashe, Jr., beloved son James A. Ashe, III, loving mother Joyce Chatmon, father Lee M. Jones, Sr., stepfather Jesse Edward McCoy, Sr., two sisters Monica Lynne and Michonne Yvette, brother Lee M. Jones, Jr., step brother Jesse Edward McCoy, Jr., father-in-law James A. Ashe, Sr., four sisters-in-law Cassandra, Pamela, Eleanor and Audra, six brothers-in-law Anthony, Antonio, Kenneth, William, Michael and Cleveland, five aunts Barbara, Linda, Roslyn, Gaye and Thomasine, four uncles Victor, Joseph, Phillip, Sr. and Alton, special grandmother Evelyn Chatmon and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
