Linda Wynder

Linda Evonne Wynder departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Linda, the daughter of Mary Ann and Landes Hazelwood, was born January 27, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland. After attending the public schools in Baltimore and graduating from Eastern High School, she furthered her education by receiving a degree from Community College of Baltimore. Because of Linda’s love for children, she devoted her entire career in being an advocate for children serving on numerous city and state committees on behalf of foster children. The Baltimore Sun wrote and article about her work in helping children. Throughout life, Linda held fast to her love and belief in the importance of “Family.” Growing up enjoying family get-togethers on Sundays and holidays, Linda continued that tradition with her six children: Valerie (deceased), Janeen, “Pip,” James and Corey; thirty-one grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Wherever you saw Linda, you first saw her beautiful smile and beside her, you saw children! A devoted Christian, Linda was a member of Shining Star Baptist Church. She leaned on the Lord in all matters and she was blessed with a fulfilled life with loyalty to her family and friends. As Linda’s time with us ebbed, she gently prepared for her passing with prayers and thanksgiving. She was truly a dedicated mother, grandparent, sister, aunt, relative, friend and co-worker who leaves a legacy of devotion, love, strength and giving.Having lived her life with “acceptance and gratitude,” Linda Wynder leaves to cherish her memory: six sisters, Robin, Joan, Joyce, Sir, Mary and Barbara; four brothers, Royce Blackwell, Steve Cosby, Stanley Cosby and Conrad Allen; five children David Wynder, Ralph Wynder, Janeen Peterkin, James “Man” Peterkin, and Corey "CP" Peterkin; two goddaughters, Tisha and Tosha; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Wynder; a sister-in-law, Janet Blackwell; thirty-one grandchildren, “Jeep,” Davon, “Lil’Corey,” Sean, “G-Money,” Laria, Rockwell, Rachael, Reana, Jasmine, Breanna, Ryan, Tania, “Lil” Valerie,” Michael, Crystal, La-Quinnya, Dierra, Tierra, Corey, Jr., “Lil’ David,” Camron, Cori, Cortney, Amaunta, Kyiesha, Dashana, Corell, Nira; three great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
