Linda D. Stokes

LINDA DIANNE STOKES departed this life peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. Linda was born on July 15, 1961. She was one of six children, daughter of the late Moses Stokes and Edna Stokes-Lane of Baltimore, MD. Linda was an incredibly loving person who had a heart of gold. She had a personality that everyone gravitated towards. She enjoyed giving and sharing with everyone she came in contact with, and she would always keep you laughing even through her illness. Linda loved life; she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and attended Maranatha Baptist Church faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Theodore Jones. She had a passion for music which called her to become a member of her church choir. Linda’s favorite hymns were “Be Blessed”, “All in His Hands” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Linda was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Southern High School in 1980. She later attended Essex Community College. Linda was blessed with three children; Brittany Stokes, Shanel Taylor and Darren Mosley Jr. In the early 1980’s, Linda began employment with Waterview Nursing Home. In 1990, she started with Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, where she received many awards for her outstanding services. Linda had a passion for helping the sick and elderly. Linda loved shopping, traveling and spending quality time with her daughter, sisters, and great niece. Linda loved traveling on cruises with her sisters, aunt, daughter, and late mother. Her last trip was to Myrtle Beach, SC (2016). Linda cherished her devoted friends, Elise Charles, Wanda Kent, Sylvia Harden and many more, who never left her side. She was preceded in death by her loving father Moses Stokes, mother Edna Stokes-Lane, son Darren Mosley Jr., her son’s father Darren Mosley Sr., beloved sister Kathi R. Hilton, brother-in-law Willie Hilton and niece Valencia Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory; two loving daughters Brittany and Shanel; a close friend, Charles McElveen, Linda is survived by: three sisters, Sherry Jones, Delores Stokes; Elaine Russell and one brother Barry Stokes; one beloved Aunt, Betty Howard; step father, Walter Lane; three brother-in-laws Pastor Theodore Jones, Zarshad Shah and John Russell; one sister-in-law Ivette Stokes; five nieces Christina, Kendra, Crystal, Stacie and Terri; six nephews Troy, Damien, Phillip, Dominic, Leland, Corey and Michael; two great nieces Keonia and Lailona; five great nephews Deshane, Marquis, Jayden, Noah and Adam; and a host of other relatives and friends.
