Linda Duckett

LINDA DENISE DUCKETT was born on December 22, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland to Lindell and Gloria Duckett. She attended Eastern High School in Baltimore, Maryland. After many years of hard work and perseverance, she later earned her General Education Diploma, which laid the foundation for her professional career. Linda always aspired to be a professional driver. She earned her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and became a driver for the Howard County Public School System, BWI Airport, and the Baltimore Ravens Shuttle Service before settling in at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). Linda loved being a bus driver because she enjoyed driving and meeting new people. After several years of service, she retired in 2014. Anybody that knew her, knew how much Linda loved crabs. Even chemotherapy didn’t stop her from doing what she loved best – crabbing! She was also an avid reader and famously had a floor to ceiling bookcase that led to her bedroom on Dumbarton Avenue. Her favorites were romance novels, but she read it all and passed that love of reading down to her kids. Her love language was taking care of people, which included blessing people with cooking homemade meals. If you have ever had one of her meals it was an experience you would never forget (and always crave). The number one thing she loved and did not play about was her “babies,” which included her children, grandchildren, ‘bonus’ children, friends, extended family, etc. After a ferocious battle with a very rare form of cancer, Linda gained her wings on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the tender age of 61. She is preceded in death by her father, Lindelll Duckett; her mother, Gloria Duckett; her nephew, Reginal Amos, Jr. and her big baby Alectra (her dog). Linda is survived by her five children, Shawnetta Davis, Cyril (David) Oram Jr., Jaquetta Oram, Kyron Oram, and Shaniece Banner; 14 grandchildren, Sean Jordan, Jasmine Jones, Journey Jones, Arianna Oram, Draven Oram, Jermaine Branch, Daisha Branch, Darius Ransom, Chloe Matthews, Devin Oram, Kyrah Oram, Kyron Oram, Jr., Dakauri Carter, and Dakayla Carter; two grandchildren by marriage, Keyshawn McCurty and Sharrod McCurty, her first great-grandchild Jacauri Branch, who she welcomed into this world the same day she ascended into Heaven; her sisters, Joanie Duckett and Barbara Amos; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close relatives, family, and friends
