Leo Wayne Goodwin

Leo Wayne Goodwin was born on August 8, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland. to Leo Linton. And Marie Goodwin. Bothe parents preceded him in death. He peacefully departed this life on Wednesday July 16, 2025. At the age of 68. Leo (affectionately called Wayne by his immediate family) was educated in Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in June 1976. He as very proud of the fact that he was the first of his male siblings to graduate from high school. Following graduation, he joined the U. S. Army and served for 10 years. He was honorably discharged. While serving in the U. S. Army, Leo met and married Patricia Thompson. Although the marriage ended in divorce, three beautiful children were born: Leo Eric, Michael Troy, and Michelle Nicole Goodwin. Following his army discharge, Leo held several positions. He worked for Hentz car rental for several years, Rite Aid, and for Baltimore City Public School System as a Food Service Worker. Leo enjoyed this position and worked at Tech Tilghman Elementary/Middle School, Furman Templeton Preparatory Academy, and the Baltimore Design School. Leo retired from yr. Baltimore City Public School System in 2020. Brother Leo surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He was a pillar of strength in the Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, sexton, janitor and in the male chorus. Brother Leo had a gift of helping. He could be relied upon to help it was wherever it was needed. During the pandemic, he assisted with food delivery program, going to door to door to make sure people in the community were safe and could receive necessary food resources. Leo loved to dance, listen to soul music, and eat soul food. He was the life of the party. He was also an avid dominoes player and could play dominoes for hours. He leaves behind his loving family. Cherished friends, and the many lives he impacted throughout his journey. Though he has departed from this earthy realm, the light of Brother Leo’s life continues to shrine in our hearts. Leo leaves to cherish his memory: three children: Leo Eric Goodwin, Michael Troy Goodwin (Javonne), and Michelle Nicole Goodwin. Thirteen grandchildren: Eric, Janiya, Ericia, Jazmine, Joi, Erin, Moses, Michael, Michaelah, Micah, Demonta, De’Laja, and Ma’laya. One sister, Lillian Trotman (Shelton); two brothers, Linard Goodwin and William Richard. Two half-sisters, Denise Womack (Don Sr.), and Lisa Obayanju Linton; one half-brother, Leo Linton Jr. (Jeneice). One sister, Valerie Parker, and two brothers, Spencer Goodwin and Charles Goodwin, one -half, Delores Gertrude Linton, and one half-brother, Dwayne Linton, preceded him in death. He leaves a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives, church family, and family. The family is extremely grateful to Mike Winder and family, Duane and Yvonne Long, and Charlene and Franklin Bourne for their love and support during this time of illness.
