LeNora Alexander Jennings

LeNora Rebecca Alexander Jennings,daughter of the late William McKinsey and Rebecca Randolph Alexander,went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,March 8,2011. LeNora was born in Henderson,North Carolina. She was the 7th of eleven children. Eight siblings preceded her in death(Walter,John,Aubrey,Vestella,Herman,Theodore,Thomas and William.) Of the eleven siblings,two remain to cherish her memory,Alice A. Brooks and Charles F. Alexander. LeNora accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Thirty-First Street Baptist Church,under the pastorate of Rev. I.H. Hines. She was a faithful member for many years,until she met and married Abraham B. Jennings. Later,LeNora joined her husband at Mount Olivet Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the National Deacon and Deaconess Association,an ordained Deacon and a member of the Every Ready Missionary Circle. LeNore would later return to Thirty-First Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the HELP Missionary Circle and a lifetime member of the Missionary Society. She remained a dedicated and faithful member until her passing. She was educated in the Richmond Public School System and graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School. Lenora worked in many capacities before finding her passion for catering. After retiring from Thalhimers,she and her husband,Abraham,Sr.,pursued her passion. They created a family business,Jennings Catering Service.Many wedding receptions and other special occasions were catered by the Jennings family. This business thrived for several years,affording them the opportunity to serve not only Richmond families,but many schools and various organizations in the surrounding counties. No event was too small ot too large for LeNora's hands (serving as many as 1000 guests). She leaves to cherish her loving memory,five daughters,Elizabeth Robinson(Phillip),Moretta Husband,Gail Peterson,Gwendolyn Crawford and Valarie Thomas(Glenn);one son,AbrahamJennings,Jr.(Cathy);devoted sister Alice Alexander Brooks,(Gabriel);beloved brother Charles F. Alexander(Alice,loving sister-in-law);two sisters-in-law,Reba Alexander and Josie Alexander. She is also survived by ten loving grandchildren;DeShawn Robinson Chew(Barron)Phillip Robinson,Jr.,Orlando Jennings,Raishard Crawford,LaRonda Peterson,Marcus Peterson,Latrell Scott(Brandi),Linwood Johnson,Justin Jennings and Jason Jennings. LeNora has six great grandchildren,many nieces,nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Let us never forget Mrs. LeNora Rebecca Alexander Jennings!!
