Legrant E. Branch

LEGRANT EVELYN BRANCH was born on July 25, 1948 to Russell and Dorothy Crapper in Baltimore, Maryland at City Hospital. She departed her life after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. LeGrant received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools System and graduated from Fairmount Hill High School. She married the love of her life Nathaniel Branch Sr. on February 16,1978. From this union were born Nathaniel Jr. and Donteze Branch. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Branch Sr.; two sons, Jerome and Gregory Fleet; and one sister, Josephine. LeGrant started working in the Baltimore City Public Schools System as a Cafeteria Aide. She and her husband had their own janitorial company which they enjoyed working together. LeGrant accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of Shepherd Community Baptist Church for over 20years where she sang on the choir. She served under the leadership of Pastor Andrew Ferges. Praise dancing was one of her favorite ministries to watch. LeGrant was a foster mother for over 40 years to many children and families came to her door. She was a very affectionate person who loved children and all who came in contact with her. She became the neighborhood mother and aunt. She would sit on the porch daily and her neighbors would come by with food and desserts, or to sit and talk, or just to check on her. LeGrant also loved to dance and spend time with her family. She was the best dancer of “Walking the dog”. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Nathaniel Jr. (De’Anna), Donteze (La’Tia); one adopted son, Fred; two sister, Darlene and Marion; two brothers, Larry and Russell; two uncles, Sylvester (Pebbles)and William (Alice); a devoted nephew, Russell Crapper Jr. (Sandy); seven grand-children, Jenell, Nathaniel III, TyShae, TySheara, TaKiya, Aushannah her pride and joy “Moo Moo” Donteze Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Arden Daniel; three goddaughters, Shanta, Tameka and Danisha; special niece; Lakia McCoy; special friend and conﬁdent, Ethel Mae Anderson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
