Lavita Mae Christian

Praise be unto God for having loaned us this glorious woman of God, Lavita Christian for 69 wonderful years. Mae LaVita Christian was born on April 227, 1946 and God, with his infinite wisdom, gave LaVita her wings and keys to the new mansion on October 21, 2015. LaVita received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She continued her education at Coppin State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Family Therapy. LaVita dedicated her life to helping others through her work at the Sexual Assault Recovery Center, Liberty Medical Center/Bon Secours Hospital, and Community Solutions, Inc. (where she retired). She taught eager criminal justice students at Coppin State University and spent most of her career working with adolescents. LaVita had a true gift for teaching people the healing powers of forgiveness and faith. She not only believed it, she lived it. LaVita gave her life Jesus as a young child and she continued her spiritual growth at True Deliverance Ministries of Baltimore, Md. Her faith was so strong, it made others want to know the God she served and worshipped. No matter what concerned a person, LaVita always had a word of faith to give them. LaVita loved world travel (especially the annual Bahamas trip with Floyd), family card games, fashion and bowling. She was lovingly known as Bunny, Mommy, Nanny, GiGi, Fancy, Diva; and she lived those roles to the fullest. She truly enjoyed all music, but gospel was her all-time favorite. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, especially her famous shrimp stuffed crab cakes. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lillian Nias and William Tracy; her brothers, Vernon Garrison and Dawayne Baskerville; her husband, Floyd R. Christian and her daughter, Malinda I. Dry. She leaves to mourn: her sisters, Vernell Harris (Jerry), Martina Garrison, Veronica Carroll (Wesley), Tanya Wilson (James); her brothers, Meredith Garrison (Deborah), James Baskerville (Angela), and her children, William Mario Dry, Sinceray L. Brown, LaVita T. Hines (Anthony), Nicole S. Christian; grandchildren, Quiana Hines, Deyonte Dry, Brett Naji Evans, Paris Better, Rakeem Brown, Kayla Brown and Xan Evans, great-grandson, Quilon Brim; special daughter, Venus D. Dry-Davis, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
